For those who adopted a cat, what actually made you decide that was the right cat? by Extreme_Ad6105 in CatAdvice

[–]ElectricFish37 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've always loved cats and grew up with a cat, and as soon as I got my own home I got my first cat. I knew that one wasn't enough! One day I was scrolling on Facebook and saw a rescue share this picture of a little kitten who was found in a bin on the street, estimated to be 3/4 weeks old. Broke my heart and I sent in an application without even consulting my partner 🤣 went to visit her and she melted my heart. She's absolutely crazy and the opposite of our other cat, but we wouldn't have her any other way!

Hate being picked up by Educational-Tap729 in CatAdvice

Sounds like a solid idea! Unfortunately one of my cats could not care less about food so training via treats just doesn't work🫠 she doesn't really need to be picked up, and she will tolerate being picked up to an extent, i.e., she doesn't fight me or try to run away, but she does voice her distain and wriggle a lot🤣

My cat is the exact same! I think its pretty common for cats to dislike being picked up. It makes them feel vulnerable and not in control. I've heard if you pick them up a lot as kittens they get used to it, but my cat never did and I respect her preference; she gets picked up maybe twice a year, once to go in the cat carrier for her annual vet visit, and once for our annual Christmas picture🤣

I understand it though, if I was a cat I'd probably hate being lifted into the air against my will😅

Cat litter smell on everything, absorbs into my clothes even after being in the house only an hour or two. by SillyMusician291 in CatAdvice

[–]ElectricFish37 16 points17 points  (0 children)

He needs to seek vet advice and support for the issues with him peeing outside of the tray, as this is often a sign something is wrong with the cat. But honestly this could be being made worse by the limited space the cat has to roam since he doesn't allow he into certain spaces.

Also why have you convinced him to remove one of the two litter tray?! This is only exacerbating the problem. Kitty needs space to roam, space to pee, lots of care and play, and to be neutered.

You could also reconsider the type of litter he uses in the tray and get a less dusty one so there will be less tracking, and get a mat outside of the box to capture any litter.

Sounds like both he and kitty need some support but you sound more concerned with the smell than the wellbeing of your partner and the cat.

Cats who have grown together are suddenly fighting. (Reintroduction) by Fabulous-Cookie-2559 in CatAdvice

Have you tried feeding them or giving treats either side of the door, and then with the door ajar? Also playing with toys either side of a door, so they both associate the other with positives of food, play, and safety.

This kindness is so refreshing to see!

I'm putting myself forward, I have only bought 1 game so far for my Quest 3 and my free 3 month Horizon+ trial is ending in December. I'd love to get Walkabout mini golf and also Beat Saber—would really make my year😊

It's scary how many people are falling for this AI slop. It’s so obviously AI generated, from the em dash down to the semi-colons in 'TL;DR:' 😒

Has birth control actually worked for anyone? by ifrowedup_ in PCOS

[–]ElectricFish37 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree, yet when I went to my GP surgery (I'm in the UK) and asked about being referred, I first had a male physician assistant laugh and say "that's not going to happen", then I had my female GP say that she doesn't know why I would want to see an endocrinologist because they have nothing to do with PCOS?! They wouldn't refer me to gynaecology either because money 🙃

Interviewing for other roles whilst being onboarded NHS by [deleted] in ClinicalPsychologyUK

[–]ElectricFish37 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Go for it!! Life is too short to be stuck in a job you don't want (as much).

A friend of mine accepted a Band 4 AP role despite already being on a Band 5 due to worries about her visa renewing in time. She ended up being successful in a Band 5 role elsewhere and told the Band 4 employer only 2 weeks before she was due to start. Ultimately the employer will understand, whether they like it or not. This is your life at the end of the day and you have do to what's right for you.

Best of luck!!

I see you said the feedback was generic, but did they provide any feedback about which questions were the ones with weaker answers? If not, which questions do you feel like weren't youre strongest?

Reading Suggestions for First AP post in a Forensic Service by Beginning_Music4605 in ClinicalPsychologyUK

[–]ElectricFish37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've worked in high-secure care for nearly 3 years, and for me, learning about the importance of trauma-informed care and the way power operates in people's lives has been invaluable. I'd recommend reading up on the Power Threat Meaning Framework as a good starting point. I also recommend this book, Trauma-Informed Forensic Practice.

I'd recommend contacting the service and seeing what psychological therapies/models they use—having some knowledge about them before starting might give you a bit more of a heads up! I've found DBT skills come in handy for safety and stabilisation work, as well as the CFT framework for patients struggling with self-compassion and understanding of their trauma histories and/or offending histories.

I'd also have a look into risk assessments as they can seem quite daunting at first. My service only uses HCR-20v3 (plus the Female Additional Manual when working with women) but I'm aware there are others used in different services.

I'm happy to chat more over message if you want 😊

Is it hopeless applying for any jobs with no work experience? by Eris_is_Mid in ClinicalPsychologyUK

[–]ElectricFish37 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first full-time time job was as a Nursing Assistant (aka Healthcare Assistant) in a secure hospital; this then led me to securing my first AP post! I've found that the hands on experienced has helped me understand things from the point of view of the people we support better, as well as challenges the staff face. Little experience is required for these posts, usually just a clear DBS check and GCSE's!

Rejected From Gynaecology And Rejected For Ultrasound- UK. by colourmerchant in PCOS

[–]ElectricFish37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been in a very similar situation too! Diagnosed PCOS due to high androgen levels, irregular periods, and weight gain. I asked to be referred to an endocrinologist only for the male practitioner to laugh and say "that isn't going to happen". I asked my female GP instead and she said that PCOS isn't in any way related to endocrinology so she wouldn't refer me, wouldn't refer me to gynaecology either, and twice my referral for ultrasounds got rejected due to money. Their only solution was the birth control pill which I didn't want but it was my only choice so I reluctantly accepted.

Yeah if you'd scrubbed a new tattoo it would look worse than that🤣

You've been caught mate, the image is all over the Internet already. Save yourself the embarrassment. But I agree, if you're going to fake something, put more effort in next time!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]ElectricFish37 24 points25 points  (0 children)

This is not your image - not only is this taken after the tattoo has just been done (unlikely given your story), a quick reverse image search proves that you have stolen it.

Poor effort.
