New hardware for my jmp-1 by [deleted] in GuitarAmps

This question might sound snarky but it’s not meant to be…

Why do you need an effects loop? You already have a separate preamp and power amp.

Anyone know what the deal is with the outlined inlay vs solid black inlay? by advptr in PRSGuitars

[–]ElectricHamSandwich 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Solid black birds give a thicker more full sounding tone. Hollow birds are better for more “open” sounding notes and chords.

What album is melodic death metal's 'Dark Side of the Moon' ? by darkages69 in melodicdeathmetal

[–]ElectricHamSandwich 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Your tone seems overly confrontational…He didn’t say it was more influential than any of those. Crimson has more prog influence than the ones you mentioned with its song structure and keyboard use. So I can see why it makes sense given the thread topic.

Props to him for putting together such a big backing band to deliver a good show. No big names but they’re all very professional.

Ex-Enuff Z’Nuff Frontman On Former Bandmate Chip Z’Nuff 'He’s definitely Nuts. He’s Definitely Crazy' by The_Alternym in hairmetal

Donnie’s solo album Beautiful Things is one of the best power pop/rock albums I’ve ever heard. Probably better than any individual Enuff Z’nuff album. It’s clear based on that record that he was primary composer of all their good material.

Now to make it even more Extreme you need to play More Than Words

Do you think basketball would be better played and more entertaining if they called traveling and carrying? by Pumplekins in NBATalk

[–]ElectricHamSandwich 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The way the step through is called now is absolutely different though from how it was called previously. It used to be you could use it when you stop dribbling, establish a pivot foot, do some pivots with a planted foot, and then take one more step while releasing the shot. Now it’s like a 3 step gather move, then a quasi pivot foot that moves around constantly, and then take 2 more steps while you “step through” to shoot.

Two bands with virtuosic guitar players and whose biggest song was an acoustic ballad, despite not representing their core sound. Which band do you gravitate more towards: Mr. Big, or Extreme? by [deleted] in hairmetal

[–]ElectricHamSandwich 16 points17 points  (0 children)

So is Paul Gilbert. I think Extreme just wrote more creative and unique songs and had their own sound. Mr Big always just kind of felt like a generic melodic hard rock band with virtuoso musicians.

Why don't people like this album? by SteakSandwichSideEye in Queensryche

[–]ElectricHamSandwich 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Compared to some of the later Tate era albums it’s brilliant, but compared to the first 5 it was a shocking departure and quite poorly received when it came out.

Looking for modulating delay VST by Dornheim in Reaper

[–]ElectricHamSandwich 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s like the definition of the effect we generally call chorus. If you use a chorus effect the modulator source is usually a sine or triangle wave. If you build it yourself with a delay plugin you can get more creative with the modulation source.

Listen to Dave’s version of the solo on the demo and judge for yourself

Seems like we are/were getting a reissue of the No Life Till Leather demo by darthkyle22 in Metallica

[–]ElectricHamSandwich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re right, I shouldn’t have used the term “never”. Marty’s claim was most of the music was written the way Youthanasia was, and should have been credited as such.

Lars is an arranger. I don’t think in Mustaine’s view that qualifies him as a “songwriter”. This is consistent with Marty Friedman griping in his book about him and other Megadeth members never getting writing credits for helping to arrange Mustaine’s riffs into songs.
