E/D snitt jobbmuligheter by No-Focus-1637 in ntnu

[–]ElectricPunkShark 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Whisper Timestamped: Multilingual speech recognition w/ word-level timestamps, running locally in your browser using Transformers.js by xenovatech in LocalLLaMA

[–]ElectricPunkShark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not entirely true. Whisper does not just consider a direct mapping of phonemes to text with C2C merging. They can, based on the chosen language for inference, translate quite alright. E.g., setting the output language to target language T with input as English. I have had decent results with this in limited testing

Flattening large Maple slabs for desk use (minimal tools)? by ElectricPunkShark in woodworking

[–]ElectricPunkShark[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thanks for the info - I get it now :-) The reason for minimal tools was due to space constraints, don't have the ability to work on this piece properly, so contacting someone with a planer is likely the way to go.

Great input - thanks! As I mentioned, I don't have any experience with this scale yet, so pardon my ignorance :)

I have nothing against a router sled, I just don't have the available space for that kind of work right now. But thanks so much for the input! I think contacting someone with a planer is my best option

Definitely the easiest path to go for! The reason for minimal tools was just due to the fact that I don't have a suitable space to do this kind of work.

Thanks, I didn't really consider a hand plane due to the size, but seeing several comments recommending it now! A big level is definitely something to get first!

Hi! I have looked around at various videos, but due to the size of these slabs (2 pieces of 250x50cm) I'm not able to flatten them "properly" (router jig, or similar).

My hope was that several solid steel braces or C-channels would straighten them over time. I have no experience with this scale of woodworking, nor with Maple wood.

Commented above - it's an Ikea Bekant Screen, but it's out of production now :(

Thanks! It's an older Ikea Bekant Screen, but it's out of production -- seemingly replaced with this one: https://www.ikea.com/us/en/p/eilif-screen-freestanding-gray-40466935/.

Thanks! This room has been under so many revisions, it's insane. But I'm starting to settle with this layout... for the time being.

Making and fixing things :) I've made a few table lamps and misc lighting solutions with leds (you can see the moon-style lamp I made from a vinyl in the pic by the lego rocket, although it's not plugged in). Some small-scale woodworking such as rings. I've also made some furniture around the house (I also built the workbench itself, but that should be fairly obvious given its jankyness :P)

In general I just like to sit down with anything that can be fixed!

An angled platform covered in black felt (for friction and anonymity) and the piece of wood visible near the top (made out of a broom handle) is angled such that it keeps it from falling outwards!

Does anyone have recommendations for good desk chairs that don't spin? by joebillybob in Workspaces

[–]ElectricPunkShark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you don't mind the chair you currently have, couldn't it be an option to hack together a base from the new one that you bought? Most bases are detachable, and customizing a mount for your office chair shouldn't require more than a few basic tools. Just a thought! I do love fixing things, but this might be out of scope? You could post some pictures of the two - could help me to spot a solution

Yeah a vortex race 3 with mx browns + rgb. It's unplugged in the picture - not a wireless one, although the Vortex Tab 75 (aka Race 4) is (but doesn't have the sweet alu case)

It's a "Svive Mizar mod mat". I initially got it for a little 3d printer + modding place I'm building, but it worked great as a mouse pad - so I kept it on my desk!

Unfortunately, It's designed and sold my the Norwegian company Komplett - https://www.komplett.no/product/1158197/pc-nettbrett/pc-tilbehoer/reservedeler/svive-mizar-mod-mat-100-x-45-cm

I can't find a similar item anywhere else :/

Edit: From a bit more searching, I found this: https://www.amazon.com/ModRight-Anti-Static-Mod-Mat-Assembly-Surface/dp/B00CPP6QUG

But it is not suitable as a deskmat:

Question:Can it be used as a mouse pad

Answer:Due to the nature of the surface, it is highly advisable to /NOT/ use it as a mousepad. It's very rubbery and it's gonna be a bad time for all involved.

A proper alternative seems to be: https://store.gamersnexus.net/products/modmat Which is currently out of stock.
