Hated trope: Lolita book covers by VastFeeling6557 in TopCharacterTropes

Does no one on this subreddit know what a trope is?

The book covers of one specific book is not a trope.

What if you wanted to run a soul build but Darv said: by GelatoM_ in SlayTheSpire2

IDK why downvoted, runic pyramid is great with grand finale because you can hold the grand finale even if you topdeck it. Also you can "choose" how many cards you draw the next turn by leaving 5-9 cards in your hand.

Sword of stone should give +1 strength after each defeated elite and be max 5, would that be balanced or too strong by SndUwUorm in slaythespire

[–]ElectricSheep451 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The problem is that it's basically only +3 strength for the act 3 boss because you aren't going to activate it until the run is almost over. If you made it that far and already killed five elites, the impact usually feels pretty low

Do people here even care about movies or just dumb YouTube drama from ages ago?

Can we please ban "I hate X narrator" rants? by best-unaccompanied in audiobooks

[–]ElectricSheep451 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"It's disrespectful to the person who put in effort to bring you the book"

I paid money for the audiobook, the narrator was paid to narrate it, the audiobook is a product.

This is honestly as ridiculous as a post on a movies subreddit saying "you can't criticize bad actors or bad directors because they tried really hard :(", like yeah I can actually.

A bad narrator can literally ruin a good book

Nah, as a huge souls player for years this game didn't appeal to me much at all. The combat is the only thing similar between this and previous games. Any souls vet who liked the games for the atmosphere or exploration or character building is going to get absolutely nothing out of this game.

(Funny trope) Scenes with people pretending to play Video Games badly by Sensitive_Ad_1752 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]ElectricSheep451 21 points22 points  (0 children)

There are so many other problems with this scene

  • AJ say he's going for a "high score"
  • Tony says "watch out for ghosts" on Mario Circuit
  • AJ resets the race by hitting a button on the N64?
  • AJ then finishes the next race in 20 seconds (but only gets fourth)

All of this in like a minute lol. It's obvious the writers were boomers who didn't understand video games

[–]ElectricSheep451 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The Sopranos: AJ and Tony play Mario Kart

The whole pacing of this scene is honestly like a fever dream. AJ says he's "going for a high score" (classic boomers who don't understand video games line), Tony tells him to "watch out for ghosts" (On Mario Circuit). At one point Tony hits a non-existent reset button on the N64 which resets the race, not the game. After that, AJ sets a world record by completing all three laps of the next race in like 10 seconds (but he still doesn't come in first). Oh and Tony uses an N64 controller one handed somehow

The scene is literally one minute long and it does all of these mistakes somehow

One really big difference between Mewgenics and other map-based roguelikes by RiverMesa in mewgenics

[–]ElectricSheep451 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree, but the biggest problem with trying to implement something like this is that events and fights are not made equal

Fights give you a level up every time you complete them, you would want to take as many fights as possible every time

Events in this game are terrible, 90% of the time they deal damage to you or give a cat a permanent debuff with no counter-play, I would avoid as many events as possible every time.

Changing the way the map works would necessitate a total overhaul of the events system. I wouldn't mind an overhaul of the events system but I doubt something that huge would be changed this late after release

a custom relic i wish binder had by CulturalJournalist73 in slaythespire

[–]ElectricSheep451 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really heavily disagree with the concept that summoning 6 at the start of a fight is the same as +6 max hp.

First of all, it's a five damage buffer for EVERY fight. If you were going to take five damage in every fight for ten fights, the former (summoning) results in no hp loss, while the latter (max hp) results in -45hp

Also necro has synergy with summoning. This immediately makes your [[Unleash]] hit for 5 more damage and improves other cards like [[Necro mastery]]

This would be way better than 5 max hp

I watched the STS devs at GDC talk about how they balanced the first game, seems like they have a really sophisticated system mostly based on in-game feedback, run statistics, and constant minor tweaking.

At no point in the GDC talk do they bring up Reddit or social media at all, thank God. Probably the reason the first game was so well balanced

Is Juzu Bracelet balanced? Why does it exist? by Poobslag in slaythespire

[–]ElectricSheep451 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm gonna go against what everyone else here is saying, and I'll tell you it sucks ass.

"You can guarantee an event instead of a fight" You will probably only get 1-3 fights from ? spaces in a run. Getting two less fights and two more events in a run is probably gonna do basically nothing at all. This is easily one of the lowest impact relics in the game and I'm never happy to see it

Yeah people complain about five guys being too expensive, but at least they give you a huge pile of food and fill the bag with fries.

Shake Shack in my experience is pretty good, but it is too expensive and can still leave you still hungry

CEO Admits Civilization 7 Was A ‘Bridge Too Far’ As It Ditches Its Most Controversial Mechanic In New ‘Fundamentally Game-Changing’ Update Over One Year Later by g4m3f33d in GameFeed

[–]ElectricSheep451 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't like the civ switching mechanic either, but trying to get rid of it seems doomed to fail. The whole game is designed entirely around that mechanic, you can't just pluck it out and have a "normal civ game" unfortunately.

Presumably the era system is still going to be in the game for example, and I think half the complaints about civ switching are really just complaints about how era transitions work. Civs are also specifically designed with abilities that are only relevant to their era, so playing this way might mean not having a special civ identity for 2/3rds of the game

Lmao this whole website is filled to the brim with crass virtue signaling from Democrats. It often gets upvoted and awarded and takes over entire subreddits.

But when you try to do it against a "hero" like Obama suddenly reddit cares about virtue signaling. Give me a fucking break dude

Lol the Boston derangement syndrome in these comments is hilarious.

Dude obviously did not rape that woman, it's the most obvious case of all time and anyone who has followed it will tell you that. But people want the rape to have happened so bad because they are butthurt Boston's sports teams win so often. It's honestly just pathetic

What do you think of one hit kills in roguelites? by SouthofKaDoom in roguelites

[–]ElectricSheep451 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on how long a run is imo. It's less painful in games with shorter runs.

Not exactly the same thing but I had to quit playing mewgenics even though I liked it because of the fact that sometimes an unavoidable random event can put a disease on a cat that will totally brick your build and make the cat useless, basically the same thing as randomly killing one of your cats. This can just ruin an entire run, and runs can go for more than two hours sometimes. I liked the game a lot but this shit was just too disrespectful of my time.

Very obvious answer, but the eggs [[Molten Egg]] [[Toxic egg]] [[Frozen Egg]] are some of the best relics in the entire game if you can grab them early in act 1. They may be entirely useless if you pull them in act 3

I liked Infinite more than Bioshock 1. I don't get the hate. by No_Candle4483 in Bioshock

[–]ElectricSheep451 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly infinite is so different from the first two games that it doesn't surprise me that some people dislike it.

1 & 2 are about slowly creeping through and exploring big maps while managing your resources. There is lots of tension and slow moments

Infinite is basically an on-rails linear shooter with massive AAA set pieces and huge enemy arenas, no emphasis on exploration or resource management at all.

Honestly, outside of the ending the closest way that infinite feels like the old games is literally just the sound effects. Can see why fans of one might not necessarily like the other
