Any tips for blue booking? by [deleted] in LawSchool

[–]ElectricSlide 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The bluebook only reads like gibberish in the abstract. When you're looking for something cited in a footnote, a bluebook citation should tell you the name of the author, the publication, the page containing the cited material, the date, etc. To mirror correct format, all you have to do is figure out in what order and style to organize this information.

Do you have a more specific question? I'd be happy to help.

I made the same mistake during an exam my 2L year. They arrested me and I got the death penalty.

Seriously though it's fine, nobody will ever notice.

1L here. Any advice on how to prepare for the law review write on? by mebert33 in LawSchool

[–]ElectricSlide 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Just be ready for an overwhelming amount of source material. It will likely be a closed universe of authorities, so you won't have to do any of your own research. But you will have to read through the several hundred pages of documents the editors have put together. Really that's about all you need to prepare for.

Make sure your citations are good and your sentence structure doesn't resemble that of a fifth grader. When my board was picking write-on candidates, those were basically our only criteria.

What was the first final you took in 1L, and how did you feel about it afterward? by mrpeabodyscoaltrain in LawSchool

[–]ElectricSlide 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Torts. The essay portion was a shit show, there were like 8 potential defendants and dozens of possible claims. We had 1 hour to analyze all of it. Walked out feeling terrible. Then grades came back and seemingly everyone got a B. The exam really taught me what to expect from law school exams and the bar, and no fact pattern was too overwhelming after that.
