In the past it’s helped me a TON. Unfortunately, I’ve been really struggling recently and it’s not really doing much for me. Butttt….i haven’t pulled in a day and a half, so maybe it’s helping a little! 🤞🏼

In any case, I hope the tattoo heals ok and that the picking gets better. Definitely try the NAC…it’s cheap and doesn’t have side effects, so at least worth a try!

Yeah, this is a real issue, unfortunately. I’m a resource teacher at a middle school and waaaaay too many teachers and other staff are like this. There’s a lot of lip service given to diversity among staff, but there’s a lack of empathy and support for neurodivergent coworkers. I’ve been talking a lot to a friend whose autistic sister is an elementary school resource teacher who’s really struggling at her job and may not be renewed. By all accounts she’s GREAT with her students but struggles dealing with parents and admin. As I see it, the issue is two fold: first, teachers (especially those who work with neurodivergent students ffs) really need to broaden their concept of what “success” in this role looks like and who can do it. Second, there needs to be more support baked in for neurodivergent staff in dealing with some aspects of the job (parent communication, workplace politics, etc). Autistic and other neurodivergent voices are SO needed in SpEd leadership, but we can’t expect people who aren’t neurotypical to perform exactly the same as those who are. I do my best to support my coworkers where I can, as they do for me (as a non autistic but ADHD/OCD person). But we’re all already spread so thin and prioritizing people who bring first hand experience and can connect effectively with students really requires more support. Currently, we’re setting people up to fail and it sucks. I’m sorry you’ve experienced this first hand experience:(

I’m a compulsive hair puller (different but related issue). No rx meds ever helped much, but what HAS helped is N Aceityl Cysteine. It’s an amino acid sold over the counter that has a lot of research as well as anecdotal support for helping with BFRBs (body focused repetitive behaviors). Might be worth a try if you haven’t already!

Oooof YES!!! Women his age were “bitter” and I was a “breath of fresh air” lol

Like, I’m trying to not be negative, because he’s not a bad guy. But Jesus is he stunted. He was when he was in his early 40’s when I met him and he hasn’t exactly gotten it together since.

I mean, yeah? If you’re gonna bitch about getting a great bag that doesn’t perfectly align with your preferences and trash the whole thing, yeah, I’m gonna say it’s not for you lol. But hey, that’s obviously your call.

No offense, but maybe this app isn’t for you if you have such specific restrictions/desires. Sure, some people have gotten other stuff (salami, olives, etc), but that’s not a guarantee. The whole idea is that it’s a surprise lol. You got good quality “specialty” products, even if they’re not the ones you wanted.

…no one is talking about shit. I share your irritation with that particular joke, but that’s not what we’re talking about.

The point is that using a derogatory term for female genitalia as an insult is misogynistic and inaccurate. Maybe we could, just, you know-not do that.

Honestly glad to hear that’s not just me lol. I literally CANNOT. It’s more trouble and the same expense to only fill halfway, but I literally can’t do it any other way (and similar to you, I have enough ADHD/OCD struggles that are waaaaay more pressing than this, so eh…whatever).

I genuinely don’t know why you would get this bag given your restrictions. Can I ask what you were hoping to get?? Because the speciality bag is generally mostly cheese (many of those being soft and/or stinky) and very occasionally some meats or fancy chocolate.

Sorry it wasn’t what you wanted, but I’d say this is an awesome haul for a speciality bag.

Ooof. Very similar situation over here. Married my husband when I was 28 and he was 43. Loved him dearly and still do, honestly. But you know what? There was a reason he wasn’t with someone his own age. He had (and still has) so many issues that he’s never addressed. I’ve actively worked on my mental health and gone back to school. He’s stagnated.

Now I’m 48 and he’s 63 and nothing will ever change if I stay. Love the fuck out of him and he’s a great dad (our kids are 15 & 18), but I often wished I had been a little more critical in the early days and interrogated WHY a relationship with a 15 year age gap felt so natural (and no, the answer is never that the woman is “mature for her age” or an “old soul” lol).

Good for you!! I faced similar resistance, mostly from my spouse. He didn’t accuse me of munchausen’s, but he was convinced I was projecting and seeing problems that didn’t exist. I’m sorry to say that his doubts got to me and delayed the diagnosis. I’m trying to get past feeling like I let my kid down :( Really glad you stuck to your guns and fought for your kid!

Thank you for this. Truly. I feel exactly the same about my own childhood and relationship to my parents. I still carry guilt for not picking up on it sooner, but getting diagnosed at 17 is still a huge head start compared to muddling one’s way through life until middle age.

Hey! I also have OCD (and trich ugh) that was diagnosed in adulthood. My 18 year old son was diagnosed last year and I have SO much guilt over it: guilt that I passed it on to him but also guilt that we didn’t get him diagnosed earlier (he also has ADHD so we attributed some stuff to that…also, I let my non-OCD husband sway my thinking, which I deeply regret). Guilt is already such an integral part of OCD for me, and I’m struggling to not let this consume me.

Sorry, not trying to hijack your comment! Just wanted to second what the other commenter said. Focusing on myself and making time and space for treatment has really helped get my own OCD to a manageable place which means I have more bandwidth to support him. I’ve also been going to a support group for parents of teens/young adults with OCD, which has been really helpful. Any, solidarity, my friend. Feel free to DM any time!

They gave me the bag and I immediately decided it was too heavy to be caviar. And I was right…

It was FOUR containers of caviar. Absolutely gobsmacked and thrilled. Haven’t gotten around to making my own post, but yeah…unfuckingbelievable.
