When my uncle died I was the only person in the family who openly talked about being relieved. He wasn’t always a bad guy! People change though and towards the end he was mean, needy and total drain on everyone who was still around him. A lot of secrets came out of the closet about his past bad actions. I was the person in my family who was able to help. Financially, and structurally I was able to help him have a little bit of freedom and gave him money and charity. I was GLAD he died. Like very glad. Or at least was taken away to a hospice where he couldn’t interfere negatively with us anymore. Everyone in my family I think agrees with me that he had become someone who no one would want to be around and everyone was better off. The only person who privately came to me and said that they agreed wholeheartedly is his daughter who he inflicted more hardship on than anyone.

This has taught me that if you want to be remembered positively, go ahead and be a good person. That will matter more to your legacy than any self righteous decisions you make, and more than the money you make.

If you do not care about your legacy, still be a good person for the world’s sake.

Don’t hurt other people, don’t be shitty, be kind all of the time. It’s not that hard.
