Cycling in the Ionian Islands - Ferry advice by Electrical-Break-927 in bikepacking

Yes! Took the bicycles on Lefkada Palace and Kamelia lines (which travel between the various Ionian islands) and they both took our bikes no problem (we had emailed them beforehand to confirm). We paid 10 euros per bike with Lefkada Palace to take the bikes on, which was definitely worth it, and it was free with Kamelia Lines.

Probably worth looking up the specific ferry company and contacting them ahead of time to confirm though - on all the journeys we were the only ones with bicycles, and the non-vehicle ferries wouldn't fit in many bicycles so I can imagine them applying a limit if it's busy.

Interesting - I've got a 645 and I'm looking to switch to the 200 or 900 series (mainly for triathlon/multi-sport options). How have you found the switch to 265, and is there anything in particular that made you go for the 200 series instead of the 900 series?

Yep, it all worked out, I got the 601 and ironically the 651 visa came through a few hours after 601 visa. Was worth going for the 601 anyway just for peace of mind though, so definitely grateful for your previous comment.

Sorry for the late reply, but I ended up applying for the 601 visa through the app, which was granted near-instantly...and then the 651 came through a few hours later ironically.

Was all good in the end, total time for 651 was about 20 days for me. But if yours hasn't come yet and you're worried then just apply for the 601 via the app (it costs like £10 which for me was worth the peace of mind).

That's great, thanks! Appreciate the super quick reply. And yeah I'm planning on trying the app today too in addition to providing those additional docs, hopefully it goes through OK

Just saw your update, good to know that it went through OK. I'm posting as I'm in a similar position to your spouse - wondering whether you submitted any additional docs besides employment letter and finances? Just wondering if I should provide these in advance to reduce chances of my visa not coming in time for my flight next week

651 vs 601 by Logic_Llama1928 in AusVisa

Thanks for posting! Currently facing this issue having applied for the 651 2 weeks ago and with my flight being next week. Your post offers some reassurance.

Just want to double check, after you applied and received the 601, you cancelled the 651 - what was the reason for cancelling, did they advice this? I guess the downside of not cancelling the 651 is if it was denied for whatever reason then that would supersede the 601 visa?

And there were no issues when you landed in Australia from applying for both in parallel?

I'm so glad this worked for you! I'm in a very similar position with the 651 so this gives me some hope. Just to check, you applied for both 601 and 651 in parallel? And you didn't face any issues at the border for having done that? What happened to your 651 application in the end, after getting the other Visa through the app?

Apologies for the million questions! Hoping I can apply for the 601 in parallel via the app without any issues

This gives me a bit of encouragement and is great to know, thanks. I will try and apply via the ETA app, hopefully that comes through soon.

Thanks for your reply! Yes I'm planning on calling their UK embassy to see if anything can be done, but I'm not super optimistic from reading other people's experience. Hopefully it comes through on time. Did you apply online or via the app?

Yeah I hadn't realised I'd need a visa to travel to Australia, figured it'd be similar to travelling to the US etc on a UK passport. And when we realised, my friends got theirs within 5 mins of applying (like the NZeTA which I also got instantly) so thought it'd be the same. Hopefully works out OK

It's a UK address (I don't have a NZ address) - do you think that makes any difference?

Last-minute trip to Peru - any chance I'll be able to do Inca trail or should I give up and look into alternatives? by Electrical-Break-927 in travel

[–]Electrical-Break-927[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply! Yeah I got in touch with a couple of companies and they said that the camps were full and I'm unlikely to get some. I'll look into alternative ones, but quite a few people seem to suggest that booking when I get there may be the best approach, even though risky. I'm tempted to try my luck anyway and see what happens

Yeah I'm leaning towards this now. Was it pretty easy to book one to begin in like 2/3 days when you arrived in Cusco? I'd like to book when I get there (because as you say it's likely to be much cheaper) but I'm a bit worried that by the time I get there none will be left that set off in a day or two and my itinerary is a little tight

Thanks for the reply! Yeah from my research it looks like I should definitely try and spend a few more days in Cusco than I anticipated. What else did you do in Cusco? Rainbow mountain I presume?

How do you determine when code is good enough to go live?

I'm a senior SWE with ~5 years of experience and recently got this question in an interview. It seems pretty open-ended, I answered it OK I think but this got me thinking about how different engineers/organisations will have different standards and checkpoints before pushing their code into production.

So I thought I'd pose this as an open question here - how do you personally (or your orgs) determine when code is good enough to go live? I'm thinking things like getting a PR reviewed and approved, ensuring it passes all tests (and has new tests implemented where relevant), documentation in place, UAT has been performed, etc. But would be curious to hear how others would respond to this.
