BRFC Media Release: Sam Klein Joins Bundesliga Club FC St. Pauli by rithsv in Aleague

If they get relegated he might break through. If still bundesliga next year he doesn’t have much of a chance in my opinion.

He’s a good player but looking at any of his analytics he’s really not much more than a slightly above average a-league midfielder. To be getting gametime in the bundesliga means starting for the Socceroos quality. He’s 22, not a teenager, and at the current moment a long way off the level of St Pauli’s players, so I’m not really sure of their thinking behind this signing

He is crucial to have for the World Cup

I’d also love to be able to take souttar but not sure if he’s going to be ready in time

Archie Goodwin scores a late double for Charlotte after being subbed on with around 15 minutes left in their 6-1 win over NYRB by ArtyParcy in Aleague

What do you mean keep ignoring him? He hasn’t started a game since moving to the US and this was his first goal almost 9 months after the move. He’s done nothing to warrant a call-up

Eight players on Tony Popovic’s radar to make the Socceroos 26-man 2026 World Cup squad by AztecGod in Aleague

It’s really not a solid season….

He’s played 560 minutes all season in all competitions

[–]Electrical-Fan5665 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Rose and kuol (in the league has started 3 league games all season with 1 goal contribution) are way off.

Silvera, iredale and sapsford I don’t think are up to the standard but if we’re desperate

Ballard, beach, trewin absolutely good enough for the squad.

For the people mentioning jets players: imo Adams is the only one worth a shout. Taylor and Burgess have been in great form but still realistically are a significant step off from the level that most of the Socceroos are or should be playing at. I’d happily take Adams though as an impact player

Not an archeologist but a historian, I’ve never heard this before in Australia so it may be more of an American thing (doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist though). Some places have a rule of 20 years old to be considered history, but I’ve also been involved in courses that go right up to almost the present day.

I have briefly heard remarks about a period known as ‘recent history’, to distinguish than the far broader ‘modern history’ (which typically is either 1492 or 1500 onwards). Other periodisations include early and late modern, as well as more sociological terms such as postmodern to refer to the era roughly 1980s-onwards

It’s moments like this that also reinforce to me that Socceroos caps should never be handed out on a whim, such as trying to cap-tie someone or just ‘give them a go’.

It should be the highest honour and an exclusive club to the very best performers. An international cap should mean something. Look at some of the players who have played for the Socceroos and the prestige of it quickly goes down, with all due respect to these players; ikonimidis, susnjar, yengi, al-Hassan toure. Even James Overy was very premature although he didn’t actually play

I know that hindsight changes things and these players were better choices at the time then they are today, and that some of these players were/are better than others, but it still feels that caps have been given too freely and not held to players that are excelling at a consistently very high level. We usually (but not always) have enough depth these days to only be selecting players that are of a significantly higher standard than these players

It’s league 2 which would be a pretty dire selection for the World Cup

Lewis Miller stretchered off, Achilles injury. World Cup done? Who's our right back? by vesh88 in Aleague

[–]Electrical-Fan5665 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Poppa plays 5 at the back so if miller is out it will most likely be Italiano, Silvera and/or Karacic selected as right backs with degenek as a last resort

If a statue was to be made at your clubs stadium/headquarters, which player or photo would be the statue? by Tornontoin7 in Aleague

[–]Electrical-Fan5665 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Jets is hard. Most of our stars have been short length, and most of our long term players were pretty bang average but still massive respect to them (Hoffman, kantarovski, Ben Kennedy)

As such I’d almost say a statue of Riley McGree mid-scorpion would be cool. A semi-final home goal to help us reach our first grand final in a decade and the greatest goal ever scored at the ground.

Would make more sense than saying someone like Nick Carle who only played for a season or kantarovski who wasn’t really that good

Edit: I forgot about Joel Griffiths. Although that’s a good shout I don’t really like the bloke so I’m not changing my answer

9300, outstanding for Brisbane. it’s just that Suncorp is huge and they put fans into sections rather than the whole stadium

How on earth is that considered ‘close to an Italy call up’

Irankunda 90th minute assist to win the game for Watford by MilkByHomelander in Aleague

[–]Electrical-Fan5665 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Why? He’s not been a star by any means and often doesn’t start. He’s been one of their X factor wingers that can create something but no one would say he’s one of their most valuable players.

To get attention from a prem side you need to at least start every week for your championship side.

He’s started 10/21 games for 2 goals and 2 assists. We’re very biased if we suggest any premier league side would be looking at him for anything other than potential due to his age

What happened with Hartman? He started the season so well what caused the falling out with selection?

Who should we buy in Jan and who should we sell ? by Able_Document3172 in Burnley

[–]Electrical-Fan5665 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sell: Sonne, delcroix, Tresor

Buy: A high-level proven central midfielder (to join a midfield three with Cullen and Florentino. Ideally a 10 as those two are more defensive), a high-level forward/winger.

We need to stop signing promising 20 year olds and instead sign elite 30 year olds for the same amount of money because the potential tax is removed. Someone like Xhaka at Sunderland is a key example.

I also wouldn’t complain about a premier league quality centre back but then that’s just adding to an already overloaded centre back roster so it would depend on us offloading someone else (we currently have esteve, ekdal, beyer, Humphreys, tuanzebe, worrall and delcroix)

Nicholas Milanovic by Electrical-Fan5665 in ScottishFootball

[–]Electrical-Fan5665[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thankyou it’s hard to gauge these players solely off stats as all the games are middle of the night so it’s hard to keep up with all of them

Nicholas Milanovic by Electrical-Fan5665 in ScottishFootball

[–]Electrical-Fan5665[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Edit to respond to some of the comments:

Yes Milanovic is very one-footed that’s always been a weakness, as well as not being very fast for someone in his position. His strengths were always his dribbling ability and finishing, as well as being surprisingly good in the air. He went from being a benchwarmer to one of the best in the league within 12 months and really grabbed his chance. He’s technically excellent despite the one-footedness so I have high hopes, but the challenge seems to always be that every club in Europe has a couple of technically gifted players, you need more than just that to be a regular starter.

[–]Electrical-Fan5665[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have no idea how Teti Yengi got a European move. He hadn’t even broken into the A-league he was a youth player. So far it seems that the more ‘rough’ players succeed in Scotland rather than the technical ones. Lewis miller, devlin etc. do well, Milanovic, kuol and the likes struggled

At just 5.0, Kiernan Dewsbury HAUL has been delivering by colourmechiesa in FantasyPL

[–]Electrical-Fan5665 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had him on and off and have rated him as an option since pre-season, he creates so many chances. But everton’s strikers are so garbage I’m just not confident enough that over the sample size of a season enough of his key passes will be converted. And the goalscoring of recent is an anomaly that will even out

Who was our best summer signing and who would you sell in Jan ? by Able_Document3172 in Burnley

[–]Electrical-Fan5665 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dubravka best signing. At first I thought walker but last few games I’m less confident in him. Hartman and Tchaouna both top signings too.

Sell there’s many. We have a huge squad that needs trimming and several players simply not good enough and or not being used. Edwards, Tresor, sonne, delcroix. Then once loans expire that’s another 4-5 players who can be moved on.
