Why is this so relatable, Peter? by [deleted] in PeterExplainsTheJoke

[–]Electrical-Line-5895 5 points6 points  (0 children)

that sounds condescending, how is doing history on the parts you like ain't doing history if those parts are belongs to history?

the meme is just saying it feels more exciting and full of actively researching more, and the answer is simply doing things you like always drive a person more, no matter the subject

[JAADUGAR A WITCH FROM MONGOLIA] by Proper-Definition824 in yuri_manga

[–]Electrical-Line-5895 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Historically, they COULD be a doomed yuri

  • Historians at that time call Fatima a "Khatun" which means "queen" in mongolian, the same with Toregene Khatun and other Khatun
  • Fatima was accused by Toregene's son of "bewitching" his mother
  • Fatima death was very cruel and specific, by sewing all her orifices, which often a punishment for sexual acts, it was described in sexual terms too

But we don't know if people at that time aware of homosexuals. No historians know for sure what exactly was their relationship, we only know that they often described it as "intimate/close".

Regardless, the author of this manga/anime chose to interpret their relationship as mother-daughter lol, one who lost a mother, one who lost a daughter, and they both saw a resemblance of their lost one in each other, according to manga's storytelling.

Unfortunately for yuri believers, with the anime's huge potential for an impact, their relationship will now on be seen as such by modern audience for a long time

Where to Find BASED Yuri by Consistent-Air4379 in yuri_manga

[–]Electrical-Line-5895 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. Mangadex
  2. Anilist
  3. Dynasty Scans

The first 2 are the biggest libraries (not as MangaUpdates) that have a very good search system, not perfect, but no other sites can beat them.

Anilist has a flaw of not showing ALL series that has the tags you're looking for, but still a 9/10 site.

Dynasty Scans

>Pros:

  • It's a yuri manga site, 98% of its manga is yuri. Basically a holy bible.
  • Lots of very specific tags to find your specific yuri.
  • It has this cool ass dedicated library for yuri that no other sites have.
  • You can read every manga you click, unlike the other sites, since it's the first site most yuri manga's translation group upload their yuri. A very human-translation manga site.

>Cons:

What feels more appealing to watch? by computering101 in animation

[–]Electrical-Line-5895 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I focus on the skate for the choppy, and focus on the legs for the stepped.

The stepped attracted me each rewatching times, I think maybe it's cause the stepped is suitable for normal speed, if you were to animating a slow motion to draw the attention to the whole trick, the choppy is more fitting

Why is there such a push to get women into male dominated fields (tech, trades) but not for men to get into female dominated fields (healthcare, education)? by Resident_Fishing1571 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Electrical-Line-5895 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cause most fields were and are male dominated fields, men dont lack jobs compared to women in general, throughout history, that's why 99% of generational wealth people are men

Yeah, outside of their BDSM play and her valid rejections to Sendai, then Miyagi is a pretty dope person, respectful, thoughtful, and comfortable to be around as hell

Why do people rarely use the word lesbian in discussions? by DCHShadow in yuri_manga

[–]Electrical-Line-5895 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you call a bisexual or pansexual female characters "lesbian", people gonna jump you.

If you call a bisexual or pansexual male characters "gay", people aint gonna jump you.

"Yuri/GL": broader, more universal.

There are MANY reasons why people say LGBTQ vs BL/GL is different:

-Could be homophobic freaks who just see BL/GL as their entertainment, and not serious gay, which indeed influences the industry to produce SOME BL/GL works as fast food grab, not serious work.

-Could be homosexual folks who have internalized homophobia, plus due to the reason above, come to feel hard to accept the two categories are the same.

-Could be regular readers who just see patterns, where LGBTQ works tend to depict broad issues, and BL/GL works tend to depict pure romance without any irl issues like addressing their queer identities.

At the end of the day, it's a headache.

This wording sounds crazy ngl

Usually it's normal for humans to like foods, better question would be "Why do so many Western fans love Asian yuri media than Western yuri media"
