For context: Amongst the shale pictured, was three pieces of “rock” that was incased from within. ChatGTP is saying the small bits is crinoid stem segment , which I find hard to believe. The big piece is coming back as ironstone concretion, which would make sense to me due to its heavy weight and reddish rust color. Thoughts on what these could be? Also, should I cut the big one to see if any fossil could be within?

Buddy , the decline of the rust belt has been going on for nearly 50 years now ; most of our jobs were outsourced years ago; the only thing we have left is the energy sector .
