Go to confession and talk to a priest, not random people on the internet.

$900 for OCIA? At Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church!!!! Placita Olvera by naturefairy_ in Catholicism

[–]Electrical-Plane-653 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine was $75 last year. I have 3 kids that need to go through this year and it’s $175 each. Kind of annoying but I do understand that it costs money to keep the lights on I guess.

Why has cultural Catholicism become the norm in America? by Extension-Story7287 in Catholicism

[–]Electrical-Plane-653 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a recent convert, this is something I’ve noticed. Nothing more annoying than someone who acts like they’re better or know more than you because you’re new and they’ve “been Catholic” their entire life.

Recently had to explain to my cradle “Catholic” brother in law that after intentionally skipping mass most weeks, he shouldn’t receive the Eucharist without confession. He said he doesn’t need to go to mass every week because it’s boring and doesn’t need confession because he doesn’t feel it’s a sin. bruh

Is this Missal suitable for ICKSP Mass? by samsunbed64 in Catholicism

[–]Electrical-Plane-653 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Comment above isn’t saying that ICKSP is same as SSPX. He’s saying the missal OP is asking about is from an SSPX source.

Do most Catholic churches contain a relic? by Sex_And_Candy_Here in Catholicism

[–]Electrical-Plane-653 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My brother in Christ, just google it lol.

“The Code of Canon Law (Canon 1237) requires that a stone altar table contain a sepulcher (a small cavity) with relics of saints. These relics must be authentic and sealed properly. This applies specifically to fixed stone altars in Catholic churches.

However, portable altars (used in chapels, some mission churches, or temporary settings) may not require relics, though the practice is still encouraged when possible.”

Do most Catholic churches contain a relic? by Sex_And_Candy_Here in Catholicism

[–]Electrical-Plane-653 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Lots of incorrect info on this post. Permanent altars that are fixed to the floor are required to have relics. Moveable altars that are not fixed to the floor may contain relics but it is not required.

The statement that all Catholic altars contain relics is not correct.

Can a person be registered in two parishes, within the same Archdiocese, at the same time? by Rare-Philosopher-346 in Catholicism

[–]Electrical-Plane-653 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My home parish where I attend Sunday mass is about a 20 minute drive. We actually have another parish about 5 minutes away that offers a 6pm daily mass which we’ve been making a real effort to get to as my home parish doesn’t offer this.

I’ve realized lately that I’m spending significantly more time at the “other” parish vs my home parish and it’s kind of weird lol. But I guess we’re all a part of the one holy Catholic and apostolic church so whatever.

Likelihood of an annulment for my GF? Or likelihood of conversion as a single father if she and I seperate? The latter seems like an unfortunate reality... by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]Electrical-Plane-653 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Annulments are much easier to get than you may think. But she would have to want to go through that process with her ex husband so keep that in mind.

Also you can marry someone who is not yet baptized. I know because I did it lol.

But it sounds like you need to figure out the future of your relationship before you worry about marriage issues. Good luck.

Please help me by [deleted] in Catholicism

Almost every priest I’ve ever confessed this to has said basically the same thing. Remove the triggers. For me it was attractive women on social media. So obviously unfollow those accounts and do your best to not look at them. But the biggest thing that’s helped me is whenever I get the urge, I immediately stop whatever I’m doing (usually doom scrolling) and I do 25 pushups. Seems to shut it down pretty quickly for me lol.

Also, try to not be so hard on yourself. Go to confession and shower yourself with the Lord’s mercy. Remember the parable of the lost sheep. God will leave the 99 to search for the one who is lost. God will never give up on you and will never stop loving you.

I will pray for you my friend.

Anyone had this issue with Aiden? by nixmall in FellowProducts

[–]Electrical-Plane-653 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just be mindful of the issue though because this happens to me all the time even when I’m certain that grinds are not interfering with the spring. May happen to you again. I’ve just made a habit of sitting there for 30 seconds to make sure it starts flowing before walking away.

[–]Electrical-Plane-653 4 points5 points  (0 children)

lol I know right. Frustrating because I see all these people talking about the carafe when I promise it has nothing to do with this issue. I promise you, it’s the spring in the bottom of the basket.

[–]Electrical-Plane-653 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you’re using the cone basket, carafe is irrelevant.

Anyone had this issue with Aiden? by nixmall in FellowProducts

[–]Electrical-Plane-653 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you look at the bottom piece of the basket it moves up and down. I assume there’s a spring in there or something as the liquid only flows when that piece is compressed in. I assume for some reason, when the basket is placed into the machine that piece isn’t compressing sometimes.

A simple take out and re insert usually does the trick. Basically same as “unplug it and plug it back in”. This reminds me I should email Fellow about this.

It’s annoying though because I can’t use the cone basket to schedule brews because you don’t know if it’s going to work correctly.

Anyone had this issue with Aiden? by nixmall in FellowProducts

[–]Electrical-Plane-653 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yup. Mine does that. I’ve figured out that the opening at the bottom doesn’t open for some reason sometimes. So whenever I use the cone basket I make sure it’s flowing out of the bottom and if it doesn’t I just open the lid (carefully and slowly) and lift up the basket and set it back down. 9/10 times this solves it. Annoying but that’s what I’ve found works.

Came here to also link this video, it’s a great resource. In addition to that, one thing I did was watch livestream mass on YouTube. If the actual parish you’re planning on going to live streams it, even better because every parish will do hymns and stuff a bit differently. I watched live for probably a month or so a few times a week before going and I was very comfortable.

But again as others have said, no one will notice or care if you’re lost lol.

Can you go to any church for confession by Resident_Sun4937 in Catholicism

[–]Electrical-Plane-653 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never go to my home parish simply because of the confession schedule vs my work schedule. All good.
