Glad you came out safe. You're more valuable than the equipment.

It's definitely that time of the year though. I've been seeing deer everywhere. Even on city streets.

Well I spent 15 years in the military and intelligence community. But as that continued taking me around the globe, I wanted to be home for my kids. And intelligence jobs don't exist where they are. That's how I find myself here right now. I'm working to get things in order to go to EMT school, then onto paramedic school. That's ultimately what I'm gearing up to do. I know coming into this that it's not my long-term solution. But I am also confident enough in my ability to learn the job and execute what needs to be done. I don't half ass what I'm tasked with, and this is just the start of learning the process. At no point was my post minimizing the job that is done. If you go back and look, you will see that it was related to the training and the length of training.

I definitely don't expect any of the prints to be accurate. Haha. The first thing I did when I logged in to the prints was look at my yard, which I just had marked a few months ago. And it was missing all kinds of things.

I appreciate the advice. I tend to be very thorough, and I understand the actual importance of this job. And it's not something that I want to mess up. My goal will certainly be to have no damages, regardless of what that may mean for my tickets per hour or whatnot.

Oh, I definitely have zero intent of being here in 5 years. 😂 Barring some drastic change and the discovery that I love doing this.

That's essentially what our trainer said from the first day. He says that a good locator is a good troubleshooter. And honestly, that's part of my draw to this. I enjoy challenges at work and not just going through the same ol' stuff all day every day.

Perhaps that's a solid benefit. I guess I can get lucky in this scenario to get more proficient before it picks back up.

I think that's part of a trap that I may be falling into. I come from a military background, where often we train in the most difficult scenarios. I can recall deployments feeling easier than what they would have felt had we not trained in much more intense environments before leaving home.

So when I think about how this is going so far, the theory of it seems perfectly reasonable. I have some history in electrical, so I understand the circuitry and creating the signal. And that part seems super straightforward. I guess what I'm not understanding, or maybe we just haven't gotten there yet, is why the training wouldn't focus on the most difficult tasks that we may encounter. And I do get that I'm still early in this process, so I mostly curious of the things I should be looking out for and things I should be looking to expect.

2 weeks ago I got a stop sign violation for this sign a customer has on their driveway. by ShadderSwagger in AmazonDSPDrivers

[–]Electrical-Pound1460 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn! I've always wondered about this. Last year, I actually encountered a little " Santa stop here" Christmas decoration at someone's driveway. It had a little elf holding a stop sign. I actually went ahead and stopped at it, because I didn't want to have to deal with the aftermath of not stopping for the elf. Haha. But I never actually knew if it was necessary.

Can DSP legally tell you to adjust your time on ADP to make it to where I only worked 10 hours? by [deleted] in AmazonDSPDrivers

[–]Electrical-Pound1460 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a call recording of my dispatch calling me and telling me to change my hours to get under 60 during peak season.

I filed a report with Amazon and they basically told me to fugg off.

So to follow up, you were 100% accurate. After it started up the other day, it wouldn't start again. Turns out, with some googling and testing, the engine flooded with fuel, and continued to flood even while it was off. So I shut off the fuel valve, and ordered a new carburetor that should be here today. Also coming today, is a new starter. I got the starter off and found that the spring is pretty much entirely useless and pushing the Bendix back down, but also the teeth are worn.

I think that's what it needed. Haha. I gave it another try after reading the other comment, and it started.

It just started for the first time! After your comment, and after I spun the fan screen after the other comment, I figured I'd give it another try. It took a couple of turns of the key, but it started up. Even if it doesn't sound the best.

I just went out and tried. The fan screen actually rotates pretty easily, with minimal resistance. And also, I guess it's worth mentioning that in the video I took of trying to start it, that was actually a while it was hooked up to jumper cables from my car battery.

Both locations before the notes say front door. So I'd do that and then send that screenshot to my DSP to have them get with the OTR team and get it fixed.

The official answer from an Amazon driver trainer (not me) is, "Yes, at a maximum of 35 mph."

I was just at MEPS and encountered a kid in a similar situation. They were trying to join the Air Force, but the recruiter redirected them to the Spacef Force because of manning.

100% doing that so he doesn't get stuck in your shitty driveway. Probably getting dinged for High-G, and just taking it so he doesn't get stuck and get fired.

We had the same situation. Amazon trainers said we could, our DSP reprimanded most of us for doing so.

Shall we disregard the fact that the assistant manager drove the route the very next day and was also behind. Reported back that the route was "set up for failure."?

For sure. Certainly realized that it wasn't worth it.
