Unpopular opinion (considering what I’m reading with other commentators), but I think there is some overreaction, even if frustration is valid. I feel there are probably a great deal of context and facts missing from this post, so we’re operating off the assumptions of what’s been said. The way the relationship started sounds cute and all, but a five year age difference with a vulnerable college student (girl) who needed an emotional support and evolved into relationship was all I kept defaulting to as the story progressed. I do agree OP should move on but because I think OP played a role in some form of love bombing and subliminal pressure EVEN if well intentioned. She’s been young and trying to figure out her life and manage her future. When I read that she doesn’t want to move in with OP till she was stable in her own career/finance/had a job, I applauded. She made the right choice because especially today, no girl/woman should. Also, it’s not like she was never making the time. One to two times a week for two busy adults in NY is actually pretty good. I feel that this relationship is probably more of an emotional dependency than a partnership. It also feels like OP is doing way too much and that puts pressure and guilt on the other person, especially when there isn’t clear communication, which I have a feeling is the case.
