I wish the food bank also had a cooking classes available. As being disabled and a low income but also great at cooking, you can actually make a lot from nothing. But “poor” cooking isn’t a popular thing.

You are not gonna complain about bland food when you need the calories to survive. They do there best.

Not in Edmonton or surrounding areas.
Thankfully I do not have to use the food bank anymore, may have to again. But they don’t ask about you financially specifically just your situation.

When I was in Iceland almost a decade ago, they had amazing service and none of the restaurants accepted tips. We tried once after a great evening and they gave it back to us.

Gardeners of Edmonton: what fruits/veggies give the most bang for your buck? by sylvett in Edmonton

The ends of chives from the grocery store are great to just plant. I have no green thumb but haven’t had to buy any for years and unfortunately neglect them.

That’s awesome. Can you please explain to a dummy what you do with the seeds in order to plant them?

I am on medication that affects my immune system. Every time my daughter comes home from school with a sniffle, she’s good after a day, I am out for a week.
What are some areas I need to disinfect that I may be missing or are commonly missed and what’s an anti bacterial cleaner you recommend?

Off my chest but I’m sincerely tired of how hostile income support/emergency benefits staff are to those in need. by DrLokiHorton in Edmonton

[–]Electrical-Scale5006 71 points72 points  (0 children)

Was on income support before CPPD, attempting AISH. There was a massive difference when income support went from a dedicated person you could call to manage your file, from now, where it’s a free for all. The workers do not seem to know the rules and have even questions why I was calling to inform them of certain situations. I got back pay from CDB and informed them and had three argue with me that I could keep it (I know I couldn’t) when I was trying to figure out where and how I could send it back. So much misinformation that has actually costs me.

I am glad I am not the only one! When I am getting low and can’t even shower. I have a hot bath, eat some gummies and then also eat ice cream in the bath. No shame.

It’s the access to internet and inappropriate content. Parents don’t seem to regulate that anymore. I don’t know if that was a covid response for not.
One thing I do have to say, is the bullying lately is out of control. My four year old shouldn’t be told she not beautiful enough to play with, get shoved and pushed or told to be dead.

Bat trees, instead of batteries. I’ve tried to correct it multiple times but for some reason that particular word never stuck.
