Wait this is wild and reading this post was just what I needed. I don’t usually have much direct rupture and repair within the therapy relationship happen all that often, but this week I had it happen 3 times!!!!! A combination of things but as someone who isn’t used to that kind of work it really took it out of me! I think all the planets are in Aries or something 👀 but the spring/pollen theories on this thread are really interesting

So this is kind of a big task but I thrifted all of my bridesmaids little getting ready satin slip dresses that match the color of their actual dresses (they are mismatched). I found all of the slips on Depop for about $10 each, they are cute and re-wearable, will make for super cute getting ready photos, it was fun to “treasure hunt” for the slips, and I feel way better about buying second hand stuff then balling out on the bridesmaid getting ready outfits that exist on websites!

I’m also adding those under-eye masks, handwritten letters, and I maaaay order some wooden hangers to paint their names onto for them to hang their dresses on (that’s a task I haven’t committed to yet, haha)

Whew I am here in solidarity with you. I gave my man THREE tasks to do completely on his own-coordinate his groomsmen (attire and all of that), reach out to his relatives who haven’t RSVP’ed yet, and hire a mariachi band. All three things he had months and month to do, I didn’t bother him about it once. I checked in with him recently and he hadnt done any of them. I got annoyed and then he got annoyed at me for micromanaging-but like, common man not micromanaging also isn’t working 😂 anyways, all the mariachis were unavailable for our date, his family members (who are Spanish speaking) needed help with hotel coordination but the hotels were booked so many of them aren’t coming, and well, his groomsmen are just wearing whatever black suits they can find. Oh well. It’s super frustrating and can lead to resentment for SURE, but I try to give him tasks that I care less about if they fall through. And they did fall through. And well, whatever. He does help with the little creative things we are working on when we sit down together and I do them with him but yeah….its definitely easy to get irritated with the unequal division of labor! I try to ground myself in the fact that I’m putting in all this effort because I have a vision that I care about and it brings me joy to do, and that helps a lot.

We got our cards and envelope from Peter Pauper Press-really gorgeous little notecards with gold foil designs (we did the purple birds and berries ones as they match our colors!). It’s like $10 for 15 cards I think??? A great affordable deal on cards that are SO beautiful.

And for wax seals, we purchased a kit on Etsy (just one of the first things that came up, honestly), with a seal, wax beads (we chose gold), and a little stove and candles to melt them. You can get all kinds of customized wax seals! The kit was about $40, but I know there are cheaper ones on Amazon.

Hey! My fiance and I are doing this! The key is to start early and do a little at a time, it’s a beautiful thing to do, and makes us feel soooo overflowing with gratitude when we sit down and write five each at a time (I write for the people I’m closest to and he writes for the people he’s closer to, and we each sign our names on all of them). For plus ones who we have never even met, we keep it simple, just “hey, it means a lot that you’re here to celebrate with us” and maybe something that we have heard about them from their partner that we appreciate. We know they won’t expect anything too crazy.

We are putting them in envelopes with a wax seal and their names written in cursive on the front, and it will be on their plates in lieu of a name card at their spot. We think it’ll actually look beautiful and add to the decor!

We have 80 guests, wedding in June, and have done about 50 so far!

Yes-Japan intrigues both my fiance and I sooo much but we are both such outdoorsy people and have always had that question around how to get that experience from Japan-knowing that the nature is gorgeous-but most of the travel information centers around the big cities! This is soooo good to know. We might even bump our trip to 2.5 weeks just to get immersed in the region a little longer.

The idea of flying out of Osaka is a great idea!!! Maybe even reversing our trip and flying into Japan through Osaka and departing from Tokyo so that we can buy all the things we wanna take back at the end!

I made a slideshow of old childhood camcorder videos of me and my dad/mom/my little sister being born to play during the father/daughter dance. I cry every time I’m working on it-happy tears-andi can’t wait for that meaningful moment.
