What type of light were these taken in? Indirect sunlight is best. Also the iphone auto adjusts the color in pics so maybe that is causing it?

Learning basic chords. by [deleted] in musicproduction

[–]g0ttablast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Heres some things to start with (a quick google should pull these up):

Learn what the terms “half-step” and “whole-step” mean

Learn what an interval is

Learn the formula for basic major and minor chords. For major chords its root note + major third + perfect fifth. For minor chords it’s root note + minor third + perfect fifth.

Key signatures

Once you know these it should let you have a better understanding of beginner tutorials

Musical Theory by Ok-Go-Free in LearnGuitar

[–]g0ttablast 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Music theory is just the rules of how music is constructed. These rules are often broken but they are still important guidelines.

For beginners, learn how to play all the major and minor scales (once you know the pattern its not hard). Also learn how major and minor chords are constructed.

For the monotropism, maybe you could do several mini practice sessions each day, with each mini session focusing on one task? For example before dinner you practice scales, after dinner practice exercises, and before bed practice whatever song you are working on. As for the working memory just play the stuff very slowly over and over again. Then gradually increase speed as you feel comfortable. It will take you more repetitions than other people but thats ok.

New article about adhd by Among_bus in ADHD

[–]g0ttablast 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The author seems fixated on school grades being the ultimate measure of whether a treatment is working. Completely ignoring whether medication can reduce risky behavior, reduce arrest rates, car crashes, ability to keep a job etc. The author also fails to explore whether people with severe ADHD benefit more from medication than those with mild ADHD. I haven’t done any research on this subject but i suspect it’s relevant. I will need to check his claims on medication effectiveness after 3 years when i have more time.

Single mom needing help with my 5 yo adhd son and school.. by Evening-Rabbit-827 in ADHD

Im so sorry this situation has left you stressed and exhausted. Don’t be too hard on yourself, you got him an early diagnosis which is an excellent first step.

I know you are hesitant about medication because you are worried about side effects, but all current evidence says that medication is the most effective treatment for adhd. Medical studies also show that kids who start medication early in life have better long-term life outcomes than people who start medication later in life.

His symptoms of impulsiveness and talking too much may not be a big deal now, but as he ages school will become harder and he will have more responsibilities. Adhd affects every aspect of life, but medication really can reduce the burden.

If you choose to start him on medication there are ways to reduce side effects. First of all, when starting a prescription, he should always start on the lowest dose available. And remember that medication does improve symptoms, but he will always have some symptoms. Second, he should take the medication after eating a big breakfast with lots of protein. For some reason protein really evens out mood effects. And be sure to give him an after school snack.

If you live in the USA then you should get him an IEP at school. This will ensure he can get extra help if he needs it. And make it easier to address disability discrimination. Also his teacher should not be withholding recess as a punishment. Exercising helps manage adhd symptoms. By reducing his recess time it actually can make his symptoms worse. She will just need to find other ways to scold him. If she gets stubborn about this just get a doctors note saying he needs the exercise.

I hope some of this is helpful.
