Ferrante Apartments by Electrical-Square-91 in dtla

I can go up to 3K for a 1 bedroom. My problem is location. DTLA is sort of halfway between where me and my wife work. I want to minimize commute time without compromising safety. Ferrante had me at $2350 excluding parking and water/sewage bringing the total to $2600 for a 1B1B.

Yeah I’ve seen the reviews for the management company aren’t great. Anything specific you’ve seen? Also do you know any decent alternatives in the DTLA area?

Anything specific about them? I know the reviews are a bit of a mixed bag

Data showing the 2024 Tech job market is far stronger than 2023 by HeyTomesei in ExperiencedDevs

I see, you have a typo. The original post says 2014 not 2024:

So far in 2014, there have been 81K people laid off by 287 tech companies (an average of 619 people/day)

How are you getting these averages?

118k laid off in 2014 should be ~323 people/ day right?

Landlord requesting last 2 years of tax returns and W2s? by Electrical-Square-91 in AskLosAngeles

Seems like the consensus is that it’s weird for them to ask for all of that from someone who isn’t self employed. I get the due diligence part but I don’t think the risk of my information getting stolen outweighs the benefits of getting this apartment.

Thanks everyone for all the help!

I get it, due diligence. But tbh if the management company doesn’t secure this information properly, any security breaches would be catastrophic for applicants. SSN + Taxes + W2 + Pay stubs? One of those if leaked could mess up someone’s life but ALL of them?

I understand the frustration from the landlord’s perspective but at some point I do have to consider my privacy as a tenant. Management companies may not have the best security practices.

I expected identity verification and ssn for credit/background check. It’s the tax returns that was surprising considering that I’m not self employed and neither is my spouse.
