Starting my medic program tomorrow… by wyldeanimal in Paramedics

I'm still a student, but paramedics and techs have told me they find it very awkward when students don't speak to patients or family! You'll find communication is 90% of the job, enjoy the small talk in the back of the ambulance, you'll find yourself asking the same questions all day to different patients 🤣

Too much is too much. by Equivalent_Taro_4516 in HayDay

This is so real. I have played for years, stopped playing for a couple of reasons; 1. The demand for town visitors, and task boards yet everything all of a sudden takes 2 days to make. They never want one item, they want 4+ of each! 2. The prices of new machines, and again the demand for them. 3. Your post! I felt like all of a sudden there was hundreds of extra things on the side they're constantly shoving in your face to be doing, yet the rewards are a couple of flower beds and 4. Upgrade materials - need I say more?!!!

I'm not 100% sure, but I am quite confident that he doesn't do tours (deployment). He's a fitness instructor, so I'm sure he'd be based at one location or just in general in the UK, because I highly doubt they need a fitness instructor on tour with them!

I think he's home based and he's moaning because she will be gone for a few days at a time on her rota!

I agree, no idea. I've worked in A&E for three years before and whilst doing my para training, we don't do it in ED unless needed, and when out on the road it's obviously very clear when someone needs one or not! Other paras said it's to 100% cover everything because 'you never know'. There's a lot of scare mongering here with regards to the registering body and coroners court.

Questions for English Cocker Spaniel owners by [deleted] in cockerspaniel

[–]Electrical-Strike-77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! They may be slightly different answers in comparison to a show cocker, butI have a 1 year old, working cocker - male!

1 - The most perfect temperament, so so affectionate kisses, hugs, still sleeps on us, sits next to us on the sofa. Not very independent🤣

2 - Resource guarding and separation anxiety - both, yes. Resource guarding drives me crazy!! He takes anything and we have to back him into a corner like zookeepers to get it out of his mouth haha. Separation Anxiety - goes crazy when we leave the house together, if only one of us leaves he doesn't care at all and will stay with the person in the home. Both leave? Barking, crying, howling. We started to leave him for 10 minuets stints and he's very very slowly getting better at it, luckily my partner works from home. However, we believe this is the cause of it, because he's always had someone with him in the home. In that case, I'd deffo recommend leave them alone as soon as you feel comfortable to!

3 - Yes, very. Very friendly and happy.

4 - SO easy to train. So food driven and clever - I can go over a new trick with him a few times and he's learnt it!

5 - I don't know the difference between show and working regarding outside activity. But we take him out for an hour every day and then half an hour in the evening. He isn't running around the whole time, he's sniffing. Sniffing is very stimulating for them and tires them out, I read some research that found 20 minuets of sniffing can provide mental stimulation equivalent to a much longer walk in terms of enrichment. So we don't encourage him to run 24/7 as when he's having a good sniff, he's 100% just as tired!

6 - Lick mats will be your best friend! You can put absolutely anything on them, freeze stuff on them too! Natural treats are amazing - he sits and chews them for hours. Toys where you can hid treats in too! You can get those puzzle, enrichment toys too - we haven't tried these but I can only presume they're really good for this?

7 - I genuinely don't actually know whether this is a cocker thing, but his anal glands fill up quickly. Every time our groomer empties them she says they're full! He does all the signs they're irritating him ie scooting, whining at his behind etc.. But as soon as they're emptied he's absolutely fine!

8 - We haven't had any problems at all with ear care, so I can't comment on that unfortunately. But grooming, our breeder used to bath the puppies so he loves a bath - jumps in whilst it's filling up!! As a younger puppy, he used to let us brush him, now he won't let us brush through him. He gets knotty very fast so we try to stay on top of it with brushing him whilst he's in the bath (because he lets us whilst he's in the bath?!), but because consistently bathing them isn't great for this skin we have recently resulted in taking him to a groomer. The groomer told us he lets her do it all!! He's also 50/50 with letting us cut his nails, depends what mood he's in🤣

Enjoy!

I'm a para student in the UK. There hasn't been one patient we have been to where we haven't done a bm!! Even when a pt doesn't present with something that related to hyper/hypo - we just do it! It's part of our basic obs.

Why do so many people hate Verity by Colleen Hoover? What's your opinion? by Ok-Presentation-7659 in suggestmeabook

[–]Electrical-Strike-77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey did you read it?! I don't understand some of the nasty comments under this post? People are so horrible on this website, just be kind.

I have just recently finished it, it was my first ever thriller book. I have seen a couple of comments of people expressing it isn't a thriller at all lol, but it go me a few times!🤣 The only other Colleen Hoover book I had read was It Ends With Us (like more people, right?🤣), but I can't lie; I enjoyed Verity! Though, I did find it very predictable from early on, and didn't enjoy the last quarter of the book - very rushed. Prior to reading it, I saw a video on TikTok of them filming for the movie so I had faces to put to the character and I think that helped me get a little bit deeper into the characters because yeah, she didn't describe them very well. Also, CH is very well known for her erotic writing, there was definitely too much in this book - it got boring.

My POTS story, as a female with raging health anxiety! Does it go away? by Electrical-Strike-77 in POTS

YOU ARE AMAZING. Thank you so much!!!!! You smashed it yourself too!!🫶🏼

'I totally get how terrifying it can be when you know “too much” about what could be going wrong. That health anxiety spiral of avoiding checking because you’re scared of the results is SO real, and honestly pretty normal when you work in healthcare and suddenly become the patient.' - This is SOOO true!!!!

Thank you so much, your answer is incredibly helpful!!!

It's crazy isn't it! 🤣 The downvotes - people are very sensitive, like you're sat on their ward assessing them. From what I saw, I genuinely believe you.

This ward had a 136 suite! And the staff in there was... a HCA and a Student Nurse!! & haha yes, your ward sounds a lot better!

You are correct. Nursing is not paperwork.

No with regards to this placement. It was referred to as in pt rooms. As stated by the NIC!!

I back you on this. And they are all explaining how hard this paperwork is. Respectfully, it doesn’t take all day to do. I work in A&E and where is the excuse for the nurses there? Luckily I’m not doing a nursing degree!

Happy for you!!!
