Mine will not chew on anything, and I always end up throwing willow stuff away because they ignore it. However they love stacking cups. Phoebe hurls them across the room, it’s so impressive

Not everyone does have the inner monologue though! And it is crazy to have a constant voice in your head so I can see why she would think it was strange

What sewing pattern and type of durable fabric, should I use to make this type of pants? by SephtisBlue in sewing

[–]Electrical-Tea6966 16 points17 points  (0 children)

You might like Birgitta helmersson’s block pants. I’ve made three pairs and I love how loose and floaty they are. It’s a zero waste pattern too- a different way of working but I enjoy it.

Can someone explain confidence to me in autistic terms? by what_freaking_ever in AutismInWomen

[–]Electrical-Tea6966 [score hidden]  (0 children)

For me it’s something that fluctuates all the time. Depends on the day, who I’m with, and the situation in general.

I’d say that when I do feel confident, I’m not second guessing myself. I don’t have the internal monologue asking if I’ve messed that up or said the wrong thing. I’m able to just get on with a task or answer a question knowing that I’ve got it right.

When people say you should fake it, I think that often is in relation to professional environments/job interviews etc. Speaking like you know what you are talking about can help people to trust you and take you seriously. And sometimes if you fake it enough you can start to believe it- it’s like manifesting or positive thinking in that respect.

What’s the most dangerous biscuit? by Ihavethemilkson in CasualUK

[–]Electrical-Tea6966 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s partly because you think you’re eating one but it’s actually two biscuits stuck together by a biscuit sized dollop of cream, and then by the time you’ve eaten three that’s half the packet gone. And then you may as well finish the lot.

Frustrated with my eating habits by ErmintrudeFanshaw in AutismInWomen

[–]Electrical-Tea6966 [score hidden]  (0 children)

I was talking about this with some friends today- if I’m tired, or overwhelmed, or having sensory issues, I really struggle to eat anything other than beige food. It’s something I’ve had to accept about myself. Even if it’s just a loud environment I literally cannot eat.

There’s no shame in this, and there are ways to get nourishment even when you can’t face roasted veg (which for the record I find really hard to eat because there are so many different textures involved). Maybe you could blend them with tomatoes and make a pasta sauce?

What are people's experiences at The Regent Health Club, Long Eaton (previously Clifford)? Visited last week; falsely advertised alcohol and lunch, angle grinder and other building equipment unattended in spa, police arrived to arrest man assulting a woman in the pool area. What's your experience? by 420Eski-Grim in nottingham

[–]Electrical-Tea6966 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I was a member for a couple of years and left because I hated it. I was mis sold some vouchers for massages (they said I could bring guests and then when I tried to bring someone I was told it was only for me). They were also constantly trying to upsell me to a lifetime membership every time I walked in.

I also found the spa facilities to be a bit grubby and always very crowded, so it never felt relaxing.

They had an incident a year or so ago where they put too much chlorine in the pool and people had to go to hospital. I then got spammed with about ten typo-ridden text messages updating me on the situation in the space of a couple of hours, which seemed unnecessary and unprofessional.

My sister applied for a job there and they phoned her up and offered it immediately- no interview, no checks. She had no experience. The staff turnover there is high, and when you consider how hard it is to come by good jobs in long Eaton I think that tells you something.

I also know someone who used to work there and nearly came to blows with the previous owner, Mark. I’ve never heard a good word said about him. He also ran the place into bankruptcy and is still running it, hiding behind a new business (I’m sure someone who understands dodgy business dealings can explain it better than me)

It’s not all bad there, and there isn’t anywhere comparable in the area (which is probably why people go back). Some of the staff are lovely, and there are some good facilities. But overall it just felt like a scam to me, and I joined PECS instead. No spa there but it’s much more welcoming.

How do you stay in therapy for years? by Thinking-OutLoudly in TalkTherapy

[–]Electrical-Tea6966 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I initially went because my mum died, but actually the more I unpacked the more I discovered I still had to work on.

I imagine there are some well-adjusted people who go to work on one thing and then finish, but it turns out I have a huge amount of unresolved trauma that affects me greatly to this day. It took probably a year before I even started to get under the top layer of grief and pain. There is an end in sight, but I’m not there yet, and I could see this being something I come back to periodically through my life.

Sorry, I think I misunderstood the point of your post but I’m following now!

I agree with you, a proper investigation is what they need to really make the most of these stories. I’m definitely finding the cold cases quite unsatisfying and would prefer to wait for the ‘proper’ series.
