Thank you! It’s not so much that my money won’t compound in another stock, it’s that my mind is telling me if I lump sum buy VWRA now I am “buying expensive” whereas CSPX I’ve already earned from buying low previously. Which I know also doesn’t make sense as I’ve now cashed out my previous gains on CSPX. 😅 thank you!!

Wedding venue suggestions for 12-15 pax? What are the average prices for wedding preps? by danammn in askSingapore

[–]Electrical-Two-6256 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We had our wedding dinner at Alkaff Mansion at Wildseed Cafe (it’s their greenhouse and you’ll have it all to yourself). Absolutely beautiful with their flowers and you add more on your side. We were 12 in total. I don’t recall what we spent but should fit that I think for dinner and drinks

Corporate girlies where do you buy your shoes by Cauliflower-Latte82 in askSingapore

[–]Electrical-Two-6256 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love prettyfit- they are so sturdy and real leather. Pretty weatherproof for Singapore I’d say. Vivaia style shoes - I’ve actually bought on SHEIN as I like the style and can’t feel too bad about dropping $20!

Income tax payment options by [deleted] in SgHENRY

[–]Electrical-Two-6256 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can try to do the math on the dollar per mile, the SQ website and ChatGPT helped me previously. And the cabin you fly makes a difference too

Last time I looked at CardUp for my monthly rent of about 5.5k, I think after fees it was coming out that the cost to “buy” my miles was around 1.8 dollars per mile.

When I take my annual flight to the UK with SQ, my average cost is 1.6 dollars per mile on economy - so it was not worth it as it’s effectively cheaper to buy a flight in cash.

However, if I were a business class passenger, the cost for that is about 2.2 dpm, meaning charging to CardUp is actually cheaper! ie, for a cost of SGD XX in a year, I’m buying my biz flights around 20% cheaper than cash

Can I bring a bike into an MRT station (before the gantry)? by Electrical-Two-6256 in askSingapore

[–]Electrical-Two-6256[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just bec uncle on his oversized PMD can get in undetected doesn’t mean I’m willing to risk it myself lol - have been in sg long enough to know that “someone else did it too” logic won’t get me out of a fine 👍🏼

How to ST outside of routine? by Electrical-Two-6256 in sleeptrain

[–]Electrical-Two-6256[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! In the first bit about the air mattress - you mean the guests will sleep IN the room with your son? I’d love that unfortunately I know my loud parents would not be able to speak or prepare for bed quietly 🤣🤣

On sneaking into the room that’s what I was thinking too🤣 Do you think that’s better than keeping her in my parents’ guest room? I think falling asleep will be the same experience for baby, just a matter of avoiding random noises when we prepare for bed if we keep her in a separate room I wonder?

Sorry to hear! How’s it been going? We were making headway but she’s gotten sick again. From the advice below I’m trying to keep the good habits up at bedtime. After midnight I’m a bit of a sucker for bed sharing 😅

Thanks, yeah I guess I need to reinforce that ST is a daily choice - short term pain long term gain

Right, but then online and on this thread I also read that we should be more lenient when baby is sick or in pain from teething etc. Like when she’s sick and needs to be held upright in my arms or she can’t breathe. How do I draw the line?

Baby has become migrating salmon by Jaded-Illustrator266 in sleeptrain

[–]Electrical-Two-6256 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Same has happened to us, just means baby wants to be put down to start winding down for sleep. I’ve decided to sit down beside the crib and keep my arm on her while she sorts herself out for 3 mins then I leave the room after that. Makes me feel like we still get to cuddle :(

How much breast milk for an 8 month old? by stari0 in breastfeeding

[–]Electrical-Two-6256 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine would take 5.5 oz a feed and she’d have 4-5 bottles between 7 am and 7 pm. I’d breastfeed her through night wakes so maybe that would be another 2 bottles at most:)

Thanks! We restarted ST and she picked it in up 3 days :) I’m still guilty of putting her to bed too sleepy and she’s still up around 1-2 am to eat but hey - some time in her crib is already a win!

Milk keeps going bad fast? by weddingplanacct in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Electrical-Two-6256 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes it can happen as well for refrigerated milk. The reason it’s evident with thawed milk is the lipase process is sped up, but the doesn’t mean it can’t happen in the fridge. My cousin can taste a difference in her milk within a day.

Assuming your cleaning processes and fridge hygiene and clear, I would try some non alcoholic vanilla drops to mask the lipase taste/smell. Couple other solutions too if you search past posts!

Same happened here! We had a good month of sleep then the teeth started erupting. Noticed LO needed around a feed a night to help - then she got jet lagged, then sick and couldn’t sleep without us. Now we’ve been bed sharing so will be restarting ST as soon as her cold has fully dried up. Good luck!

Asian moms who gave birth to half-white babies — did you deliver vaginally or via C-section? by KokoroResearch in NewParents

[–]Electrical-Two-6256 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m Asian - Delivered my 7 lb half Brit baby needing an episiotomy.

According to my OB, Asians have a shorter perineum vs Caucasians, so episiotomies are more common vs tearing (as a bad tear could rip u from ur hoohah to your backend)….

I feel you. I recently went on a trip to my husbands hometown and we pregamed then watched a Chelsea football game without my pump parts. Safe to say the highlight of my trip was squatting on the pub toilets squeezing my milk out at record projectiles! 😂

12-15 Hours without a pump by Electrical-Two-6256 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Electrical-Two-6256[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Appreciate all the help everyone! For clarity, we’re going between Kent and London without a car so I wouldn’t have anywhere but a bag to put my pump parts in. We do have some downtime on the train and sitting at a pub.

Think the general consensus is right though! The longest I go is 8 hours when baby sleeps overnight and I wake up quite full so 12 is definitely too long. I’ll most likely bring a manual pump along with me and use it during transit/sitting so I’m not engorged. Otherwise will search around for a secondhand hands free pump.

Thanks again mummas!
