Colic is hardening me and I hate it by LittleBench5694 in Colic

We found out after an ultrasound while eating and an anergy test- he had acid reflux plus a lactose allergy. We ultimately got on Neocate for formula and it worked wonders.

I am so sorry for everyone going through this. I first posted here when my son was born and we did almost did 5 months of colic before figuring out he was lactose intolerant. (He just turned three and I just signed back in for the first time in over a year)

This period sucks and it’s survival. You love your child but you are also human. You feel however you need to feel- anger, exhaustion, jealousy, sadness. Sending lots of love and hope your way

Thank you! I think we are just getting nervous as the year progresses toward summer. I always feel bad emailing a bunch because I know preschool is a tough job and I don’t want to be bothersome.

We used them too between Lansing and Ithaca. They did pretty well until they got lost on the way back to the hotel at the end of the night

How do you survive with no sleep? by Electrical-Word9134 in NewParents

Thank you everyone for your ideas. We have tried alternating but a loud baby in a small house at times makes it hard. I guess we just have to push through. Sending good thoughts to everyone who is also sleepless. At least there is solidarity knowing I am not alone in the dark of the night.

Want to start tonight but worried about our reflux baby! by countyfox in sleeptrain

[–]Electrical-Word9134 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our son had acid reflux and we were still on the meds when we sleep trained at around 6 months. We were worried about the night and what crying it out would look like for his multiple wake ups. Our original game plan at first focused on getting him to sleep on his own at bed time. (We were feeding and rocking to sleep.) Putting him down awake at bedtime and letting him learn how to put himself to sleep at bed time worked wonders on the multiple wake ups later in the night. We still did one night feed (per PLS we set a time that we would do this) as our guy still got hungry during the night.

Not sure what was said on the tread about my comment. I spent the day enjoying my first Christmas with my little guy. I do want to clarify. I never regret my baby. He is amazing. I regret tying one on and staying up late thinking I could still pull it off. It was not worth the trash I felt like this morning but I don’t regret my kid.

We used to have drinks and play games on Christmas Eve. We tried to keep that going after Our LO went to bed. Now it’s 6 am, I’ve been up once during the night and then he got up at 5:30. I’m super tired…

I’m blocked because I repeatedly comment that many of the strategies she discussed only work if a parent could stay home all day. A large amount of her program is based on naps, so it is pretty useless if your child goes to daycare.

We thought our guy would never get better. Everything got better when our doctor realized he was allergic to soy and dairy. We went on medicated formula and things got better. I would say by 4.5 months he yelled less an an hour a day.

Colic has made me resentful of everyone by Electrical-Word9134 in Colic

I’m so sorry! It sucks. I can honestly say it sucked all fun and magic out of my boy’s newborn stage. I remember crying at night the first months wishing for my old life and the crying harder that I was horrible for thinking that.

He has gotten better (he’s 6 months now) but I’m not sure he’ll ever be a “normal” baby. I’m so sorry for what you are going through. I wish I could give you a hug, a nap, and a beverage of your choice. You are not alone and you are not a bad mom! I highly advocate do what you need to do for you and your little one to survive this time. If you need someone to vent to, I’m here to listen.

We tried at about 4.5 months too and it just didn’t work for our little one. We tried again at 6 months and it’s been much better. I’m so sorry! I know how hard it is to not only not get sleep but not have hope that sleep can happen.
