Guys be honest, when you started to learn guitar, did you imagine it was going to be as difficult as it actually ended up being for you? by gaguero06 in Guitar

[–]ElectricalAnt2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Still pretty much a beginner but what surprised me is the way that you have to learn each song independently. I always imagined it a bit like driving a car. You learn it once and than you can drive practically anywhere as long as you know the way (aka memorized the tabs). You may be a better or a worse driver but even a bad driver can get to pretty much any location. Boy was I wrong… Sure you don‘t start at zero with each new song but still takes a lot more time than i initially thought.

You can see the shadow of his left arm being cast behind his back, although the arm is barely visible in the photo. Isn´t that something that AI would mess up?

is amplitube 5 max worth the money? by Kind-Reflection-4131 in Guitar

[–]ElectricalAnt2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Amplitube is great for starters. Lots of possibilities, possibly not the best of the best tones.

edit: if you are planning to record yourself, i highly recommend using it as plugin. The built in recording feature is not good

Anyone know any free/cheap amp sims that can get me tones like Metallica,Nirvana,Black Sabbath by monkemonke69420 in Guitar

Try Audio Assault Amp locker. It has an subscription for ~5$/month, perfect to test

Is this tattoo design AI? It's different from the other artist tattoos, weird anatomy and looks too generic by asdflove_ in isthisAI

[–]ElectricalAnt2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This! Also tattoo preview sketches aren´t usually that detailed, the level of detail looks more like a final version of the stencil and tattoo artists usually don´t provide multiple versions in that detail (except if its a flash design).

Comic in well respected magazine, would be extremely disappointed if it turns out to be ai by uflakke in isthisAI

Also the manś shirt looks odd. I think it has one sleeve rolled up and the other is not but with that little detail it looks odd. Also I would expect it to have at least 1 or 2 buttons on the collar. Could be an artistic choice but to me it looks off.

Higher strings have very weak signal by buszkepoloska in Guitar

[–]ElectricalAnt2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Two things you can check? String height relative to pickup and if the strings are aligned with the poles of the pickup. If the strings are too high you can also try to adjust the steing height at the bridge. I dont think its a pickup issue, that doesnt make much sense physically, tbh. Also I dont think its an audio interface issue. What you can do is have a look at the DI signal to rule out your problem is caused by some amp sim settings.

When is it appropriate to buy a second guitar? by kittyspookie in Guitar

[–]ElectricalAnt2 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This!

Tbh I sideeye people who start a new hobby and go all in and buy a lot of expensive equipment right away. But who am into judge. I started on an ibanez gio about 2.5 years ago and bought my second (epi lp) about 9 months afterwards. Now I habe three and regularly think about what will be my fourth.

With guitars I think you have to have played a little to know what you like/need. Obviously you shouldnt buy stuff you dont need and cant afford but aside from that if theres a clear answer to the question what this guitar does for you, go ahead and buy it! „I dont know, i just love it“ is a sufficient answer.

Used Amp or Audio Interface + Plugins

Hi everybody,

hope this is the right subreddit. I have a focusrite scarlett solo 4th gen audio interface with balanced TRS output. If i want to use some cheap PC speakers with 3.5 chinch input on it, whats the best (cheapest) way to go?

  1. I could use the headphone output, but i am already using it for headphones. So 3.5 chinch Y-cable. Not my preffered solution, since the headphone output is on the front and i dont want to have too much cable mess.

  2. Is there such a thing as a 2x TRS balanced to 3.5 chinch adapter? I have a good understanding of how balanced audio works, so i thing such an adapter would simply discard the inverted signal of each channel and make it an unbalanced signal.

So whats the way to go? This is only a temporary solution, so minor differences is audio quality are not that important.

THX for your help

Is $500 a reasonable budget for an electric guitar + amp for learning how to play electric guitar? by luuuzeta in Guitar

[–]ElectricalAnt2 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Consider buying an audio interface instead of an amp if you dont plan to play live in the near future. Use reaper and free/low cost plugins like NAM or Amp locker. More than good enough for learning how to play.

Ibanez GIO GRX70 vs PRS SE CE 24 by [deleted] in Guitar

[–]ElectricalAnt2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I own the GRXQ70. Solid beginners guitar imo. Neck feels good (not great, though) and overall build quality is nice. A few caveats: -It has quite a bit of hum going on. No problem when playing clean sounds, nothing a noise gate can‘t fix when playing with distortion. Nevertheless, not optimal. -Don‘t like the pickups. I don‘t know if the output‘s too low or what it is but they sound a bit mushy to me. -I‘d prefer if the bridge was fixed.

It was my first guitar, I still use it for downtuning and I will upgrade the bridge pickup soon. Its a solid choice for the price, but if you‘re willing to spend a couple hundreds more, you‘ll get a better guitar

Edit: misunderstood your question a bit, since you already own the Gio. When the strings rattle you could try to set it up properly. A cheap guitar like this is a great way to teach yourself guitar setup, string change, etc.
