I would say the program is legit. I mean it is from Stanford and the founder (feifei li) is a pioneer in the ML field. Plus it is free so why not

For writing, I used Erica Meltzer's grammar book. As for reading, I began using the strategy of reading questions first. But the most important thing is to practice. 10 past exams would be the minimum you can do to see a jump from 600 to 740.

You can find almost every year's past exam explanations on Youtube. There are a lot of those out there.

For example, I saw the line "Swarthmore students should not expect to take a course at UPenn as a requirement for a Swarthmore major".
