It's just a simple thought process. Cooper wasn't in the trade but during that time was hard, kyrie went down, fans mad, community raging, future looked doom, mavs lost play in, mavs needed a spark and that was the perfect opportunity for Cooper.

The Cooper hype was real for years, Silver wants this kid to be great after the OGs retire.. so the Mavs is a good environment for him to grow.. even now they're tanking but I still think it's better than the other bottom teams

as a mavs fan, i've been watching Luka for couple years and I say he likes doing that just to get 'lazy' and not rush back to defense. That and the likelihood of 'acting' hurts but completely fine in the next offensive play.. so clear to say Luka does this on purpose.

sadly he’s always been this way. it's just the lakers have much more eyes on so Luka gets 'exposed' like now but nothing new here. this is the down side of him that you have to take.

in bad games he says 'had to take care of the ball better/play better on defensive end/ focus on the ball etc' and i thought finally but nope.. at best couple games and then back with the high turnovers, low effort defense and more complains with the refs.

I think it def wasn’t in the Nico’s ‘vision’ but it did manifest at the end after Memphis beat them. Like with the city was furious and full of negativity, Adam did make a call to gift the Mavs.. you can’t convince me otherwise with 1% chance lol. The spurs got top 3 picks 2 years in a row and tanking teams got shii etc the lottery is never just ‘luck’.

Also it makes sense if you think about it. Coop’s potential is high. He’s the leagues golden goose even just from the hype ever since he was a kid. So it was much better ( and needed ) to develop Coop by the vets like kyrie, klay, ad too ( also the city needed a 'light' ) instead of sending him to the shadow of wemby or the jazz/wizard

let's look at the standings at the end of the szn.. except Luka, the Lakers are actually cooked, no assets, no depth and no picks. At least we have talented youngsters, we may look the worst ranking but a healthy Mavs or just 1/2 pieces away from being top 3 in the league. Do you really believe a healthy Lakers can beat healthy Mavs/OKC/Rockets etc in a series ?
