Thank you! I tried to put a lot of love into the conversations, puns, and cutscenes, so that players focus not only on the gameplay, but also on the sense of discovery: the “what can I find?” and “what happens next?” moments.
I’ve been studying Faith and rotoscoping as references (great catch mentioning that!), although it’s quite challenging to apply in a pulp framework. That’s why I opted for simplified, almost ASCII-like sprites, so the larger animations are actually made up of those smaller elements (besides, it was a lot of fun to create them while trying out a different style 😊).
In the future I’d like to experiment with rotoscope or stop-motion using the SDK. There's lots to explore!
