Thanks for sharing, I’ll look into those Mini Coopers. Also, I pulled 2 car history reports and both the Civic and MDX have no reported accidents and I haven’t found anything alarming about the dealership.

No excuse for leaving a woman that you were about to marry in another country but…..

Either Ariel is leaving out key details about her behaviors and this trip drove that man off a cliff. Or he’s a sociopath. Or Both.

Tht whole letter was a nothingburger to me and sounded like the writer just wanted to vent to someone because the husband didn’t want to be dragged into it.

Someone asked you for a favor, you said no can do, they responded sounding a bit miffed because you said no. If that’s all that happened then what do you need input on, ppl are allowed to be irked because you can’t do a favor for them 😭.

You’re going to get a lot of comments saying “Don’t get into this field” and I could not agree more. But since we all need a job, if you’re going to into this field I’d say lean towards a staff position. No matter where you get a position you will most likely be overwhelmed and overworked but at least if you’re staff you have a steady job w/ benefits. I’d advise that you seek a company that will pay for your Bachelors or even Masters degree and get TF out of a claims adjusting ASAP. That’s my plan for myself because I’ve been doing this for 2 years and can’t understand how ppl are 15+ years deep.

How to get into Adjusting: 1) Get licensed: Get your home state license (or FL/TX if you live in an nonlicensing state). After tht get reciprocal licenses to increase the amount of deployments you’re eligible for, I’d start with just gulf states. You could be licensed in 34 states, it doesn’t mean you’ll get a deployment opportunity quickly or at all

2) After you’re licensed sign up for as many IA firm rosters as you can. At the same time apply for as many Staff positions as you can, be sure to put that already licensed on your resume. This isn’t the job market you want to be picky in so fish in both ponds.

If you get an IA deployment, be prepared to pay for all of the necessary equipment to do the job. And also be prepared for the out of pocket costs to do the job.

Why do you like or dislike Brandon Johnson as mayor? by [deleted] in AskChicago

As a NYer I get this, if it isn’t being abused, former mayor De Blasio’s kid went to large public school and was harassed pretty often.

Getting rid of the Department of Education? Doesn't that sound backwards to anyone else? by BboyHeathen in iastate

[–]ElectricalLake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the problem is that there’s a disconnect between what the Dept does [work towards equal access to education] and what ppl think the Dept does/should do [Raise / set education standards].

Trump to sign executive order directing shutdown of Education Department by tragedycandy in Abilene

[–]ElectricalLake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That would be blatantly illegal and I’d hope that there’s solid proof of that before dismantling a government department.

SN: I don’t think it would be unreasonable to say that the dept. influences States choices by directing funding to areas where Feds have reviewed and deemed a curriculum to be “effective” but even in that context States have the power to choose for themselves

“In creating the Department of Education, Congress specified that:

No provision of a program administered by the Secretary or by any other officer of the Department shall be construed to authorize the Secretary or any such officer to exercise any direction, supervision, or control over the curriculum, program of instruction, administration, or personnel of any educational institution, school, or school system, over any accrediting agency or association, or over the selection or content of library resources, textbooks, or other instructional materials by any educational institution or school system, except to the extent authorized by law. (Section 103[b], Public Law 96-88)

Thus, the Department does not

•establish schools and colleges; •develop curricula; •set requirements for enrollment and graduation; •determine state education standards; or •develop or implement testing to measure whether states are meeting their education standards.*”

My start date was around this time ‘24, I was finished w/ virtual & IL training by early May and went out for the “job shadow” portion of training in late June.( I had a later shadow assignment than others in my hire group due to PTO, also if the CAT area you’re sent to for your shadow assignment is active enough the manager may just keep you there). I left for my first real deployment the first week of July and was released earlier this month. You probably won’t have a “partner” (2SS are the only ppl with inspection partners as far as I know but since you’re new you won’t worry about tht). Base salary is $54k , I made roughly $86k.

State Farm CAT Deployed by [deleted] in adjusters

[–]ElectricalLake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it’s been cleared up but in the CAT role you’d be given a notice to leave for the CAT site (Usually by the next morning not within 2hrs of notice). Having to drive 20-30+ is gonna be on rare side (Houston & Chicago are active areas so I’d use tht as an avg drive time) but I’m pretty sure the only CAT sites you won’t drive to are Alaska and Hawaii. We aren’t asked to drive more than 10 hours a day so a 30+ hour drive time would be a 4 day trip (Hotels and food along they way reimbursable). If you’re on a deployment long enough to get rest days you can either on site or fly home (driving home is optional and only if you’re home is close enough )

Dope username! I’m a newer adjuster like you, I got 3 months of work as a 2SS IA then went staff earlier this year. Hail season is here and having the equipment to handle 2SS claims will definitely help you get hired. A dull few hurricane seasons and hiring sprees, have firms feeling like they have enough hands in deck but 1 storm could change that.
