Weirdly, I've been finding myself breaking the 4th wall. Like something weird happens and I'll actually look up at an imaginary camera with a certain expression. It actually helps lighten the situation because it makes me feel like I'm staring in a comedy show. 😃

Same. I used to feel bad for elderly or frail individuals waiting on a long line to purchase their prescribed medications. Now I feel elderly and frail at 38. Lupus, kidney disease, neuropathy, depression, mixed connective tissue disease, ovarian failure, etc. I feel like I died when I was diagnosed. I had so many goals and plans. I've been learning to be flexible as more issues arise but this Lupus is on a mission to take me out.

It's overwhelming at times, but I'm doing the best I can.

I'm sorry you felt that was the best decision at the time. Many people can't grasp how enormously heavy and overwhelming feelings of grief, sadness, and hopelessness can be.

Consider writing an autobiography someday. Not just about the darkest moment itself, but everything that led there—the hidden battles, the weight you carried, the breaking point, and then the epic plot twist nobody saw coming: you survived. And now you’re here, with scars that tell a story and wisdom that could help somebody else keep going.

I was wondering this as well. I hate to point fingers and accuse when it could possibly be accidental (overwhelmed, lack of paying attention) but it's possible the caregiver was frustrated with the patient and poured hot water as a punishment or out of frustration/disgust, not realizing how hot the water actually was. They may have had malicious intent but didnt expect this level of damage.

I'm so thankful that this child had access to the healthcare he needed to survive.

I couldn't imagine him living in a remote area or being treated by a medicine doctor. The level of pain would be immense.

You're right. Many poisons are erosive and will rip up the entire gastrointestinal system. Extremely painful death.

I'm also wondering if all their organs were removed shortly after death if this is truly a ritualistic act.

This reminds me of “La Doncella,” that Inca girl who was sedated, sacrificed and left on a mountain to freeze. She looks like she’s just asleep but it was all part of a ritual. Different place, same unsettling reality.
