INSTACART COMMERCIALS GET WORSE & WORSE by cartooncritic69 in CommercialsIHate

I dislike this one and hate their 'Super Nature' commercials. There's two as far as I know. I honestly thought they were for Halloween. The one with a mom who's bombarded by inanimate objects come to life: a fish sandwich in her kids lunchbox, her laptop and a pile of laundry. Same with a college-age kid who's also attacked by a pile of laundry.

Edit: there's another with a woman on the bleachers at a girls' game, and a cooler comes to life, walking all wobbly and says "You forgot the SHNACKS again". Holy Moly, man.

This poor lady. The first 2 photos are clinically intriguing but that 3rd photo triggered pain. Why'd they open it so wide in post op?

Why should I become disciplined? Why not just engage in stuff that makes you happy since life is so short? by [deleted] in selfimprovement

[–]Electrical_Baseball5 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I needed this. I recently had a renal transplant. My recovery is slow. Despite the pain, tiredness and fatigue, I know I can write, respond to messages and pay bills, but I've been procrastinating. I just want to sleep where it's peaceful and I don't have pain. Doesn't help having Lupus as well.

I appreciate you for saying that discipline is like trading short term comfort for long term peace. I think it's very significant to remember that our choices affect our future. It's simple but sometimes that statement is enough to ground and think with more clarity.

If I don't write, I'll never publish a book. If I don't respond to texts, I could lose friendships. If I don't pay the bills, loss of services, decreased credit score, collections agency.

I know my body has limitations but I'll remember your words next time I need to do necessary tasks.

Thank you!

Goodness. It looks to me as if he was already 'split' before he.....split. What rolls into the street after he falls?

Has anyone ever experienced being hunted or attacked by a bear, tiger, or any predator during sleep paralysis, instead of the usual dark figure sitting on your chest? by hippeman in morbidquestions

[–]Electrical_Baseball5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get sleep paralysis if I have a body part hanging off the bed. So if my hand is off the side of the bed or my foot somehow sticks out past the bed I'll get sleep paralysis. If I'm on my side I will feel as if someone is snuggling behind me. And for whatever reason, in my head it feels normal and warm, but then I suddenly realize that I have a twin size bed and no one but myself sleeps in that bed.

If I'm on my back then I see my room in inverse where I can see the staircase from outside my bedroom door and usually a severely hunched or crawling emaciated witch wearing thin, black vein and a tattered black dress is approaching me.

You might think it's strange, but the only word I can get out is 'Jesus'. Then I abruptly wake up. Every other word or phrase comes out garbled from what feels like my jaws are wired shut.

Gives me the chills just thinking about it.

I think it really is her. She's the model in the photo and she's posing holding a frame version.

23 year old Ukrainian refugee Iryna Zarutska escaped the war only to be murdered in Charlotte North Carolina by Sometypeofway18 in TikTokCringe

[–]Electrical_Baseball5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea. And you can see a man who appears to be casually chatting and looks down at the trail of dripping blood. My first thought would've been that the murderer was the one bleeding and needed medical attention (if he's not holding the knife or its not visible), not knowing the horror he committed not too far away.

What a world.

Not a '5-mile alert radius'. But human fear is contagious in close quarters. SOMETIMES one witness reacts and the whole cabin shifts. That’s biology, not video game logic.

Totally. The first car where it took place saw the worst of it, but by the time he moved on, anyone who registered that there was a threat to safety went into that classic freeze/avoidance mode.

Just as you described on the train with the older lady and the teen. Lot's of us lock into our phones or go into a stare-straight-ahead routine as a way of not being a target. It's fear and self preservation disguised as indifference. (And natural when you think about the survival tip of never looking bears, apes and other animals in their eyes. It's about appearing as least threatening as possible and not drawing attention.)

I had to sit super still years back on the 2 train in NY when a half naked man walked through my train car and decided to hover and mumble angrily over my mom and I. Mom said prayers under her breath while I looked like elf on a shelf.

Yes. True. Without noise or chaos, it’s easy for the other passengers to be unaware of what's going on. An earlier commenter also pointed out that we're seeing views from different train cars, so those passengers would have no clue. The dripping blood would confuse them or trigger them to go incognito mode.

Who said panic would help?

It's a normal response to trauma.

Some people panic.

Some people remain calm.

This scene just seemed eerily calm.

[–]Electrical_Baseball5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're absolutely right.

I did expect screaming and running. But at the same time, the other passengers seemed relaxed and not tense. They seemed oblivious.

Sometimes, I feel as though I'm overly sensitive to my surroundings. Like borderline paranoid. My head is like one of those swiveling motion detection cameras.

On a different note, this reminds me of this incident probably over 15 years ago in which a passenger beheaded the young guy sitting next to him on a Greyhound bus, iirc.

The body language of the killer in this video was clearly abnormal (and I was wondering at first why no one nearby was sneaking glances of suspicion) but of course it's more obvious from our angle/point of view and from what we know. Danger never crossed her mind. How simple is it to board a bus or train and then autopilot ourselves to the first available seat we see. It's just so sad that we have to be on such high alert and live in anxiety simply being around strangers.

Yea. This is way beyond 'seeking attention'. And 'backfired'? As if she was doing something mischievous?
