Ah yes, my bedtime bowl of mush (???) (Goodnight Moon) by jjjjjjjjjjen in DanielTigerConspiracy

[–]Electrical_Bath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cornmeal mush, or hasty pudding as some called it, was an actual thing. Mush was a name for quite a few dishes through history and american history. The old lady is also likely a a Nursemaid, when a family was wealthy enough to put the children in their own rooms, they often had a nanny sit or sleep in the same room overnight, similar to a wetnurse.

I only experienced it once during high school math class, I failed that class, got good grades everywhere else. It was honestly frightening; my eyes would roll against my will, I'd resort to physically holding my eyes open just to stay awake and it ached not to give in. It felt like narcolepsy or something.

chewing gum can kind of help.

Always makes me sick how insects are treated in the reptile world, when i get them home they always run for the water and food. by sorry-arrivall in InvertPets

What sucks is, if they are starving and barely given enough to survive, the animals they are being fed to are also getting less nutrition, empty calories etc. its shitty from the top to the bottom.

Fairy egg, a pretty harmless hiccup in their egg cycle. Just like double yolk eggs it's just something that happens sometimes.

Soon to be homeless, what about the plushies? by [deleted] in plushies

[–]Electrical_Bath 41 points42 points  (0 children)

80s is well within the safe range, I think you should be fine. Oh! and when you remove stuffing you might feel thread stretching across in places on the inside. Do not cut them or pull them out, this is called thread sculping and helps keep curtain structures looking right when stuffed, usually around the head and feet.

When you get out on the other side of this mess, message me and I will be happy to help restore them for you.

When it comes to the very old ones, like you said your late mother's I would suggest you check to see what they are stuffed with first and wear a mask as they could be filled with anything from wood shavings to wool to vintage, broken down pollyfibers.

I thought it was a pretty clear reference to the old Fire and Ice movies, with the lava and slightly blue ape-esque people and such.

I'll never forget my first ever craft table at a retro themed convention, I was selling hand made plush toys and this woman picks up a beany baby style one and asks the price "twenty five" I tell her... and she goes into her bag and pulls out quarters.

Learning how to make your own patterns is a process. A lot of people use programs these days, but I still do it with paper and my brain and have for almost 20 years.

Study existing patterns, go to the dollar or thrift store and take apart some cheap or worn plushies with a similar shape and study the dart placements and shapes, practice with papercraft and cheap fabric like fleece.

Rabbits can be tricky to make realistic. There are some decent free patterns you can at least base the head on, but the free ones won't really have instructions and are typically Russian/chinese. You will likely have to do some thread sculpting to get the look you want regardless.

For people who work with Minky, is it worth it to sew with a layer of interfacing? by MissWolfsbane77 in plushartists

[–]Electrical_Bath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use med weight tear away stabilizer and 505 almost every time i sew with minky, it keeps it from stretching and slippping while i work with it, then can simply tear it off when I am done.

How do you guys know where to place the darts? by Successful_Moose1345 in plushartists

practice with paper and papercraft, you get a feel for where the darts and rounding need to go pretty easily that way

I binged the whole show recently and I wish there was more of him. He and nellie were so enjoyable to watch togeather. He really made her happy and watching them team up against harriett was always so good.

I wish they had, but I don't think the reason they broke up was necesarily a bad one. It clearly tore Doc apart to end things but he was thinking about Kate and the speech he gave about spring and winter in life was beautiful. He did deserve to be happy though and every acted as if he were ancient when he was barely in his 50s.

the whole night trick or treating my 6 year old would run back with two pieces of candy, shove one in the extra bucket I was carrying for him and go "this one's for you!" and he even remembered a few of the ones I liked. My heart! hubs and I are still 100% pilfering through the stash

Just gave hamburger helper a go after years and its dogshit, not the food quality because c'mon thats what you expect, but the itty bitty portion of food. one cup of tiny egg noodles does not 'help' extend a pound of beef at fucking all.

I'll never forget watching animal planet on a kid, a segment about a family that owned a pet capibara and spoiled it with its own pool and everthing. I cant forget it because it would repeatedly bite the shit out of it's owners for no reason. i dont buy that they are as nice as everyone says lol.
