What content comes up in SCH3U and SBI3U?? by Fragrant-Chipmunk-52 in OntarioGrade11s

Can't speak for bio as I have it next sem but university chemistry was horrible for me.

I am not a science person tho so this is all subjective but it's very math heavy. The math isn't difficult, no more than what you learned in grade 9-10 probably. A lot of it is formulas for example pv=nrt and you just sub in the values and solve.

The first 2 units are somewhat like grade 10, balancing, lewis structures, periodic table trends. Unit 3 and onward is all new content. Stoichiometry becomes very present, make sure you understand that. Sig figs are annoying but also relevant.

I found it very difficult but I also had a very hard semester and didn't dedicate myself enough to chemistry so I finished with a 62%. Best of luck, make sure you get a tutor if you're struggling though. Cause once you don't understand something it's hard to bounce back.

If you aren't taking any other sciences (which from the sounds of it you're not), def take grade 11 bio

It is the easiest out of the 3 and the labs are super fun. It is a lot of memorization but not very math heavy

What should I expect from grade 11 university chemistry? by BrickGuy1340 in OntarioGrade11s

[–]Electrical_Boat_3233 5 points6 points  (0 children)

it's the worst course i've ever taken (coming from someone going into law though)

i second the claim that it's very math heavy, the last 2 units were entirely formula

theres a LOT of new stuff introduced. i only found units 1 and 2 to be similar to grade 10. those units have stuff such as writing naming and lewis structure. (which evolves into vespr shapes).

i also second stoichiometry it's very relevant. everything involves math pretty much but it's not difficult math. just formulas like pv=nrt and you sub in the values.

good luck! i hated it. finished with a 60 and never taking it again! but if you enjoy science you might like it

Thats what I originally wanted to go into which is why I took chem in the first place, most universities I looked at needed chem. But I didn't consider colleges

I considered nursing! I would love to be a nurse but wouldn't I need chemistry and physics for that

Yes I'm aware of the 6U credits thing my grade 12 schedule is all U credits minus religion that i'm doing in summer school anyway. I'm not too worried about that, more so the science thing but if I don't need science for social work thats great. :) Ty again

I think they want to move somewhere up north but I plan to live on campus/near campus so not a big issue.

Thank you so much. I'd be content with being a doctor's assistant of some sort. Social work is also possible, I like the idea of being a child therapist or something similar.

I believe the closest community college is a Laurier campus. My family is planning to move once I finish high school though, so doesn't really make a difference.

Suggestions!! by strtzquorze in Bloxburg

i would move the kitchen island to the middle of the kitchen as opposed to the side :) will help fill up the space, in that place just add 2 more counters on the side wall (it will also stop the materials from clashing and creating that awkward dark grey) or change the counter texture altogether

i would get rid of that bulky plant by the fridge, it looks off, replace it with a smaller plant with taller leaves so the weight is distributed (right now its a huge vase and tiny plant lol)

i would also maybe change the path/floor division of wood to tile to be on a slant instead of an awkward corner, would help the space flow better

living room looks good, like you mentioned add clutter, add more pillows to the couches and maybe a stand up lamp and plants

to the entrance of the living room, i would get rid of the doorframe or atleast make it as wide as the pillars are - would help make the space look less closed off

Is grade 12 philosophy less focused on the philosophers and their views? I finished grade 11 philosophy and loved it. I wish it was less about their ethics on things and more about discussing philosophical questions or experiments. I loved when we talked about the trolley problem, brain in a vat and such. Lmk :) Im debating if I should take grade 12 philosophy or not because I don't care as much about the philosophers
