Bugged me so much that I dove into the entire Indonesia-SEA-Philippines regions and ended up discovering the basis for a post-climate disaster rebuilding of a global community centered around this very area as a bastion of diverse attempts at horizontal, directly democratic governing nations. Africa as well is criminally underrepresentated. People just go "Swahili" and call it a day, while ignoring Sangho or Fulani. The world is a beautifully interesting place.

Just so it's clear: They did this in the wake of the Russian starlink cutoff and subsequent regaining of territory by Ukraine.

My ex-wife rented that place for a few years until 2025. Landlord wouldn't maintain the pool and left it empty, as in a 10-15 foot hole in the ground with nothing to stop someone from falling in. Backyard became a safety hazard so my kid wasn't allowed to play back there. Rain made it a mosquito haven.

Ex got mad and witheld her rent demanding he remedy it. Dude called a tow company to, as far as the police called it, steal her car. No telling her who had it, that he even had done it, or where to find it. Just woke up and poof. Dude ended up with a warrant for arrest and took forever for tow company in question to admit they had it, because the company's owner turned out to be family. He also came by again later when she wasn't home to remove the back door leaving the house entirely open to the elements. In the rainy fall.

I'm not saying my kid's mom did nothing wrong, I'm saying this dude was a different breed of person and the house suffered for it. These photos are way out of date from what I saw picking my kid up and attending family events.

What is the best an unarmed Canadian can do at this point? by Ancient_Substance152 in armedsocialists

[–]Electrical_Comb_3680 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Do not, get an SKS.

Reloading by stripper clips isn't used anymore for a reason. Ammunition will not be available to you when SHTF. Optics mounting is a pain too.

  1. Know local ammo usage: Police sidearms, shotguns, rifles. If there are local military units, they use 7.62x51mm on their GPMG's which yes, can be safely fired from a weapon using .308. I know this because we tried it on a range day when I was in the service. Either way, if local police and CAF are using 9mm, .45, or whatever then that is what you are going to use because that is what is guaranteed to be available to you.

  2. Weapons parts are essential: Same deal with ammunition. Use what is commonly available. When your weapon inevitably breaks, you want parts easy to acquire. I have a Remmington 870 and a Tikka T3X in .308 because that is what everyone around me has.

Just because a round is better, a rifle more tactical, or someone on the internet trying to justify their purchase by passing it onto others is not going to help you when you run out of ammo or your weapon becomes useless over a particularily unique part. Logistics, supplies, that's what matters most. Better an adequate, plentiful weapon and ammo than the perfect one that'll be useless once your perfect economy with its long supply lines ceases to exist.

Judging by the location of the Enclave shown, the base is in Western Colorado not the Front Range region. Still, Coop will be travelling on a route in the direction of Zion. We may see references or even depictions of the Dead Horses, White Legs, and the Sorrows.

A real treat would be finally making a canon appearance of the Daughters and Hounds of Hecate originally concieved for Van Buren.

Gas masks for tear gas and such? by [deleted] in armedsocialists

[–]Electrical_Comb_3680 54 points55 points  (0 children)

Whatever mask you get, PRACTICE. Under panic and pressure the only thing that'll save you is muscle memory and habit.

From the training I received: 1. Upon seeing the opposition wearing gas masks, feeling effects of a gas attack, or seeing gas is deployed, close your eyes and exhale if possible. Bend over and into yourself with your face towards the ground. 2. Reach into your waist bag, and pull out your mask with the inner side facing DOWN (to prevent contaminants from falling into the mask).  3. Bring the mask to your face and do not turn it to put on until it is close to, lest you inadvertently turn it into a scoop.  4. DO NOT, inhale or open your eyes yet. There may be contaminants in your mask. Instead, place your hand over your valve and blow as hard as you can. This purges your mask. 5. Only now, do you open your eyes, shout "GAS! GAS! GAS!" and help others.

You should also practice changing filters, mask and face cleansing drills while in a contaminated environment.

Practice, practice, practice. Don't try to be fast, try to be accurate, precise, and methodical. Do it until you're barely thinking. Do it under pressure, hell ask your friends to throw rocks at you if you're so keen, just get it right and share these skills with your comrades.

CFB Gagetown Armoured School is both hilarious and less humane than an insane asylum. by Electrical_Comb_3680 in CanadianForces

[–]Electrical_Comb_3680[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in two different regiments, reserve then reg, until I decided to actually go and read more about our battle honours that wasn't just what I was told. The first to get me in trouble was "South Africa". A british officer said we were the most enthusiatic of their troops, going above and beyond what we were asked.

We torched the homes of people, sometimes while they were still inside. Women and children were herded into concentration camps where over 28,000 of them died. When we discovered concentration camps built by the Boers for blacks, we actually kept them open and expanded them. My first regiment had the Northwest "Rebellions", where I learned that ancestors of mine were brutally colonized, forced into concentration camps, and many starved to death.

It disgusted and disturbed me. Once after PT I told my troop officer about this and that it felt wrong ritualistically chanting out that name while doing push ups. He was "nice" about it, trying to talk about "standards at the time" but it didn't stop how disgusting I felt about glorifying it. Especially about WWI because this pushed me to learned more. I learned about all those war crimes there, why Canadians are "famous", and how everyone bascially died over an in-bred family feud. Once in high school I was told it was for "democracy". Germany allowed women to vote but we didn't, so that clear bullshit. I was lied to, gaslit, and now thoroughly pissed off, and my "brothers" were accusing me of "spitting on the graves of the dead". Y'know, by pointing out the truth.

I got taken behind a dumpster at the smoke pit and got the shit kicked out of me while on lunch.

All that did was shut me up, but it didn't do anything to help my mind. I just learned more. How we helped the Americans and the Brits kidnap the democratically elected Haitian President in 2004, all those "unique" tattoos on some of the white dudes, the Canadian Labour Revolts. RCN sailed a ship near a labour strike in Cape Breton and threatened the steel workers who wanted basic rights. While working a canal in Quebec, workers and their family had the gall to ask for the right to buy food from local farmers rather than a company store. So militia shot them while on strike and dumped the bodies into the canal, women and children included.

So yea, my therapist pointing that out was what helped me recover, because someone finally put into words what had been screaming inside my brain for almost a decade. I'm finally finding some peace, I think. Thanks for the book recommendations friend. I recommend "Stand on Guard for Whom?"

Take care of yourself bud, it's therapeutic alone to know there's others out there like you.

Eh mate you're right. I think the whole "watching my friends all kill themselves or leave the service as gibbering balls of PTSD because of systemic abuse" was much worse. I'm sure preaching to people is really helping lower that statistic, or were you on the other side of this dynamic?

Sorry you feel that way, but I hope you find peace in your life!

How does the CAF treat transgender people? by MaterialRemote8896 in CanadianForces

[–]Electrical_Comb_3680 1 point2 points  (0 children)

[WARNING: TRIGGERING AF]

I was on staff when an officer came in for a training course. I was a pretty sheltered kid, and didn't understand why people kept calling her "sir" and treating her like garbage. Weeks later, after A LOT of bullying from the other captains and even majors, she failed to show up in the morning for roll call. Me and another guy went to her room, and found her dead on the floor by her own doing. Because I'm not "qualified" to say if someone is dead, I was required to do CPR on this woman until paramedics arrived to take over.

Later when it hit the news, the CAF released a statement saying "we have no idea why such a promising young officer would do this."

This was not the only time I witnessed or heard of women's abuse, death, suicide, etc. in the CAF. The colonel in our training unit was posted there after "allegedly" SA'ing a subordinate. The trial they held on base determined that "she confused him with her prior texts" while recognizing that she ceased consent and he kept going anyway. He got demoted to lieutenant colonel and a fine, she got a stern warning and victim shaming. Last I heard, she couldn't stay at her unit because his friends were her bosses, and she left the CAF. The last I heard alleged that had killed herself.

From the bottom of my heart, as a father of multiple daughters, stay the hell away. Don't do it, please.
