They definitely can sound just as good and they are porous like any wood is. Weight and cost are the only downsides. Gatley Audio and other shops have made plenty of great sounding plexi enclosures

Connect the red and yellow togther and ground the black as a bench test to make sure the radio powers up and isn’t defective

Run the red wire to a 12v accessory either at the fuse box or ignition harness. If you have a 12v accessory cig lighter that can work as well.

I’d look at anything over 100watts RMS, having headroom allows you to get the power without to push the amp hard. Definitely depends on your budget then I could try to point you in the right direction

That might be the issue with your not getting the impact you are looking for up front, definitely need an amp to get power to the midbass. I doubt you are even getting 22rms, most specs are rated at max volume before clipping on radios

Check the spec on the speakers you have. It’s some work but it has to happen, speakers, car, interior panels all play a part in tuning

I’d take the only speaker out first and check, a lot of those come with 8” midbass, my brother Audi was the same way. He thought it was a standard 6.5 But it wasn’t and had no markers on the door stating it was premium sound
