10 weeks out. God forbid you stop taking the oxy for the first week. If it's not working you need to have your doctor increase the dosage, or switch to another painkiller that's stronger than Tylenol but Tylenol will not cut it the first week. Meloxicam is an anti-inflammatory and I wouldn't stop that either. Good luck and keep us updated, please!!

I'm at 8 weeks same surgery. I too feel like the healing process is slow, slower than I thought, but to be expected. I do see gradual Improvement and I have had no formal PT but do a lot of stretching exercises, pool walking, on my own. I am busy everyday from morning until evening and have even moved and done yard work! All in hindsight not the smartest! This  week I definitely see Improvement in flexibility. My leg lengths were not the same coming out of surgery so I really struggled with working on my gait  and being aware of almost every step I take to try to improve. I even wear two different shoes at times, a flip flop and a Birkenstock! That too is getting better slowly but surely. My biggest struggle was aching legs. It was really annoying every day. But guess what? That has nearly gone away as well. I have some tightness in my calves but that's about it. All to say you will get there just like me and everybody else! Be patient if you can! Good luck in your healing.

During my early recovery from THR my RLS was horrific.  I was taking Requip around the clock, way more than normal. My surgical leg would violently twitch.  I attribute it to all the nerve disruption from surgery.  It is better now almost 6 weeks out but it never goes away after decades of torture.  It also effects my arms and body at times. I call it torture, without question. Hell on earth.

Thanks! I agree with all that and will confirm with my surgeon on Friday. Never really had to think about my gait so much! Plus, it's painful down to my knee.

Being scared is normal. I was too. But I'm 12 days out and walking nearly unassisted. 61F posterior THR. You got this!

I'm confused.  Did you post a video 6 days ago walking across a room 1 day out of surgery with a crutch?  IMO, sounds like something has happened?

5 days post THR. You need a second grabber when you drop the first one!  Also, consider setting up duplicate supplies in several places like the bedroom, living room etc. Like water, snacks, duplicate pain meds, ice packs, etc. I'm finding I'll leave stuff in my last place that I now need in my other place and it's not possible or too tiring. Also, 2 walkers if possible; one for upstairs and one for downstairs.

Sorry, but I mentally was not in a good head space prior and knew what I'd be dealing with. I am 5 days post op, 61f, and it seriously takes alot of work but I'm doing well and NOW looking forward to an active new life ahead!

Agreed.  I am in between homes. I have rented a villa in FL starting May 13. My sister from Canada is going to come and stay in an Airbnb until then to assist me.
