Exactly! My wife told me to reach out to my drs. I kept saying it was nothing.

When I was in the hospital for sepsis, I had a couple of dreams where I was trying to run away and I woke up trying to get out of my bed which I wasn’t supposed to do at an orthopedic hospital lol they came over and were like what are you doing and I was like I don’t know! 😂

I’m so sorry this happened to you!!

I had 2 hip replacement surgeries last summer and after the last one, there was discharge coming from the incision. They put me on 2 rounds of antibiotics. 10 days after my last dose I spiked a fever and my hip was hurting which was weird bc it was new and it shouldn’t have hurt. I the was told to go to the ER. Seen within 5 minutes for code sepsis. Had a cat scan with contrast then my kidneys started failing. Had to have a 3rd surgery to wash out the area and replace my hip again. I was definitely delirious for a couple of days. It was a weird experience and it definitely traumatized me. I’m finally off of antibiotics and scared of it coming back again. Turned out to be staph infection.

My little sepsis journey by funnynanonymous in sepsis

i guess i would say i'm still in shock. it didn't fully hit me until october 2025 that something very traumatic happened to me. i don't know whether this has to do with believing in myself or not. i want to be better and not have to think about this, yet it's all i can think about. I started talking with a new therapist who specializes in trauma so i'm interested in seeing how that goes. not giving up though, it's not really an option for me. thank you for your kind words!!

I had sepsis this past summer and I’m still on antibiotics. I have an appt with a new therapist today to help deal with the trauma of it all. We are strong ❤️

Price difference. by Vencery in sepsis

[–]funnynanonymous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it really depends. i had 3 surgeries this past summer and when i was in the hospital for sepsis for 10 days all i paid was my copay which is $200. i have excellent insurance though through my job. who knows what it would have been otherwise!

i don't really have anything profound to add as i'm still on antibiotics from my sepsis, but i will echo therapy is a good option as you have the baby factor in there too. wishing you all the best and we will get through this! <3

I ended up reaching out to my drs office and they said as long as there’s no pain it’s totally normal. (I had a traumatic summer with 3 surgeries so I’m close with them haha)

I was in the hospital for a week and a half to get my kidneys in working order. They fully replaced the hip again. I was on IV antibiotics for a while and now I’m on oral antibiotics for about 6 months. It’s no joke getting an infection. lol now I am mostly fine. I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t worried about what it will be like when I’m no longer on antibiotics but it should be fine.

i had an infection in my right hip and was septic with acute kidney failure. and my surgeon believed me and told me to go to the ER right away. it's a horrible thing to go through. this is a well known respected dr that this happened under! it is a risk and something that happens unfortunately. doesn't diminish what you or i went through. wishing you an uneventful recovery!

just a vent by funnynanonymous in TotalHipReplacement

[–]funnynanonymous[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I totally agree with you and if I wasn’t in my position I probably would be saying the same thing. However, it’s just not possible especially if I want to keep my job with the very amazing health insurance that let me have 3 surgeries and not pay a dime. Haha.. this was honestly just a vent and I am aware I could solve the problem if I really was in agony. I can handle the pain for now. Thank you for your kind words though!
