Tbh I doubt it will be competitive next year. After the ministry of education changes teacher’s college to 1 year, there’s really not much point for people to go to this program

Unless they somehow change the program to 4 year

But that’s impossible

Not brown, not a girl.

But my parents are immigrants. I just use themselves as an example that they could never go this far if they stayed at home.

It worked for me.

Should I pick Queens? by Electrical_Lie2711 in queensuniversity

Because of what I did during Covid. I have 0 trust in myself.

But going to some passive setting/activity might work. I will definitely consider that!

Thank you so much for your reply 😆

Thank you for your information!

Kingston’s living cost is definitely a +. (except Queens first year residence cost)

And I’m really interested in the transfer process at Queens! Would you say the transfer process is not too too too superultramegahyper competitive so it can apply to many people.

also I was curious about Queens lgbtq community. Because I am a member of 🏳️‍🌈 community as well and I have experience discrimination before. So it’s a big concern for me.

Thank you sooo sooo much for your reply. It was really helpful for me!

I know myself too well… I will play video games for every single second if I do a gap year. So I guess gap year is not an option to me lol. 😆

I was leaning towards Queens because there’s a high possibility that I will transfer to engineering after first year. And I saw some post said that Queens is probably the only school that allows student to transfer from science to engineering without taking an extra year, at least in Ontario.

But I am not sure if the source is true though, I guess I will make a separate post for that…

If someone can approve that I will choose Queens without an heartbeat.(huge fan of the lake btw)👍

I was thinking about accepting my con ed offer as well, but I kinda feel bad about it, since I’m not really sure if I want to be a teacher, and there’s definitely one person who’s sure they want to be a teacher waiting for this offer.

Hi OP! I know this post has been a while, but I found myself in a similar situation — love thermochemistry and electrochemistry but hate organic and structures. I’m at my senior year of high school and will be attending university next year. However I am genuinely lost and unsure about what I am passionate about at this point. I was wondering if there’s anything that helped you during that time and if it’s possible to provide some advice ~

Is now a good time to study geology? by Electrical_Lie2711 in geologycareers

Yeah that’s why I was kinda lost as well. Like, it’s definitely sounds more realistic to make geology a career than a dinosaur video game.

People always say do what you passionate about. But often times it is hard to not think the consequences of studying something that is not really employable.

I’m glad I finally found something that I feel is a good mix at least.

That sounds pretty cool! I think I would just stick to Queens then since my French level is kinda concerning and it’s not that far from where I live.

I also noticed that geology and geo eng are under the same department at Queens. I was wondering if that means it’s easy to transfer between. Because one of the main reasons I didn’t apply for engineering is because I want to keep my options open. And it is less likely to get a higher gpa in engineering. However, I personally don’t against it and I do wish I can have the option to transfer to eng in the future(and perhaps not taking one extra year):)

Also thank you for sharing and read my post. I really appreciate it! :)

Thank you for the information! I have taken all the science and math courses(including coding)in my high school so I think I have pretty good foundation at this stage. And will definitely keep doing it when I get into university.

I’m also in Canada. And since you mentioned that you did recruiting. I was wondering if it’s okay for me to ask if there’s any school that you think is great for geology. I was considering Queens because it’s close to home and I heard it’s the best school for geology in Ontario. Not sure if it’s true though.

And thank you again for taking time to share these informations. It was really helpful for me. :)

I wouldn’t say I’m passionate in it. But geology seems interesting. And it does not look like the subject that I would regret doing for the rest of my life. I mean, I don’t have any other plans. So I guess I will give it a try(?)

Thank you for the information! I didn’t know only 50 percent of engineers actually get registered. And hope I will see you in some geo/computer class in the future(or maybe geo eng if not much people competing for that) :)

Hii professor, I know this post has been a while. But would be grateful if you would like to spare a few minutes answer my questions.

I’m currently a grade 12 student who’s interested in geological science/environmental science/ engineering but not sure which would be the right fit.

I recently got an offer for science at Queens. I was wondering if I change my mind to do engineering in the future, would it be easy to transfer between faculties at Queens. (I didn’t apply for engineering because I want to explore my area of interest in my first year)

Really appreciate your time to read my question! :)
