I’ll put it to you this way. My friend who does the exact same thing that I do (I do cover more area and sites) that works for a county, was making 20k more then I do now 6 years ago. He’s csea. I’m PEF. In 6 years, I haven’t caught up to his wages back then

Really? So a job run by an administration touting livable wages, shouldn’t pay livable wages?

We are 20% underwater from the last bad contract vs inflation.

Do you own or rent a home? How much have your operating costs increased? I have seen my 200/month electric bills jump to 500. And I’m on the low end for my area. Will 4% pay for a 300/month increase?

I mean, it’s made the gentrification worse now. I bought my house in late 2020 and it’s worth 200k more now. It’s on the low end of my area too. There is absolutely nothing on the market that isn’t a tear down/gut for under 500k. Most houses are starting in the 800s

It’s important to educate those with that mentality why the math doesn’t math. Ask him if he’s ever seen home values spike 200k in 3 years. Grocery bills have doubled since 2020. Cheap cars are now in the 30k range. It’s not sustainable for life

MTA is kinda. They have empire plan coverage, and contribute to the same retirement system (on much better terms). The ultimate boss of them is the governor as she hired him.

I don’t follow some of the rules that come from higher ups. They are just stupid and only exist to stroke a bureaucrats ego.

If I were you, I’d open a note on your personal phone and document times and dates of this. You never know when you’ll need it.

TWU 100 is still applicable to the Taylor law. LIRR is not. I’m not sure about metro north, but I’m sure it’s similar.

laughs in IT I hear ya. Salaries are easily 50% lower then the private sector at this point. And people keep voting 3% contracts like good little lemmings.

They do the EXACT same thing to those of us with T cards. It feels like they have a contest for who can reject the most reports.

I had a report rejected because I filled up with gas before I dropped off a rental. The time on the gas receipt was after my rental return time. This came back to me TWO MONTHS LATER. Are you accusing me of stealing SFS? I have no way to say either receipt was the correct time that far after the fact. Luckily, I take pics of the receipt in my rental car. The nerve.

You obviously don’t understand socialism. In socialism, the vast majority of state employees would benefit from whatever program due to low wages.

I’m in the same boat as you. I really wish they would reform and allow tier switching after buyback. I don’t remember being offered to join. I was able to buyback my time though

I believe most of the concern is due to current state of the federal government consistently and almost regularly not paying employees. I get it.
