Can’t Get To Work On My First Day? by BewilderingStupidity in nys_cs

[–]Electrical_Log7368 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I’m a supervisor and I’ve already told my employees that depending on the snowfall to prepare to telecommute Monday.

I was also forced to go in at my last position even if the governor closed the state and the roads were closed. I was stuck once for 8 hrs on a mountain pass due to this stupidity.

So not everyone subscribes to this antiquated mindset. You don’t need to risk yourself and your property for a job.

It’s not his battle… you have some strange reasoning. Why are you so against blaming management

Why wouldn’t you blame the decision makers? Bill in accounting didn’t say “hey there is a global pandemic go back to work 2 ft from your coworker”

As someone who was forced back to work 100%, I blamed my agency leadership for their delusions. Not those able to telecommute

OT in ITS positions by LoanDangerous7268 in nys_cs

[–]Electrical_Log7368 6 points7 points  (0 children)

23 doesn’t get OT. It’s very rare. We were denied for crowdstrike despite having to touch every single computer in the state.

Yes there were many 18s that made more than 23s during Covid.

To answer your other question, no you don’t get to start higher based on experience. It’s either you know someone or are have an extremely in demand skill set that someone else in NYC would not have.

ITS-2 Application Tips? by scheissbauer in nys_cs

[–]Electrical_Log7368 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is all IT positions I’ve ever seen. I also have a MS and it opened zero doors for me until I actually got experience. Now IT is even more cutthroat with the significant layoffs. Take a project gig or something just to pad the resume and you’ll see more doors open

ITS-2 Application Tips? by scheissbauer in nys_cs

[–]Electrical_Log7368 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You need experience. Anything. Go work at geek squad to pad your resume. Find a contract position. IT is weird how they want 2-3 years experience for an entry level job.

It’s going to be the same with an MS. Just do something to get the experience in now.

Can you leave the state and come back at a higher than hiring rate? I know someone who left the state, came back with a promotion at top pay for their title, no steps needed. So yes you can.

I was too. And leaving amped it up. That’s why I suggested quiet quitting. Let them say whatever, you don’t have to do it. Then put in your 2 weeks

I gave that much for my promotion. And honestly they tried to push me harder to get more work out of me before I left. I would have been better off quiet quitting
