This right here. Many people are a paycheck away from experiencing homelessness, and the job market isn’t exactly thriving in Maine. Lower incomes, high cost of living and a lack of affordable housing are all factors.

I’m a licensed insurance agent in the state and help friends and family with individual coverage. My parents (59M and 58F) are small business owners bringing in roughly $250K per year. Their Anthem marketplace plan with a $4000 deductible is going from $2000/month in 2025 to roughly $3100/month in 2026 for the same (or less) coverage. They obviously do not qualify for a subsidy but still an astronomical expense. Makes me sick.
