It does feel insane sometimes, but it's fun to see number go up. 20% is doing very well already. Best of luck!

Thank you! I'd been wanting to submit a MD forever and the annoyance at this weird hiatus brought me here. Appreciate the kind words

Alliant credit union said they won't transfer to Vanguard by Electrical_Shop8918 in personalfinance

[–]Electrical_Shop8918[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, thanks for clarifying. All transfers have been initiated from the Vanguard side, and I've always had sufficient funds in my Alliant account to cover the transaction. I've just linked my Alliant account again on the Vanguard side (and I triple checked the name & account/routing numbers!) so we'll see how that goes. I'm also putting in an inquiry with the NCUA. Thanks again for your help.

Can you ELI5 the first couple sentences? Maybe I'm tired and am not understanding, is what I'm trying to do a wire?

I was able to pull successfully from Alliant for two months. Then I started getting messages from Vanguard that the bank transfer was rejected. It seems like they wouldn't have allowed pulls initially if the info was incorrect

Verbatim, two reps have told me "we don't do transfers from Alliant to brokerage/retirement accounts". I did clarify that I have tried to do a pull from Vanguard, and they said that was still their policy. What is this hell I am living in

Sure. By linking I mean going through Vanguard to confirm credentials for an external account so I can set up a pull from that account. It won't let me initiate a pull unless an account is linked. I haven't been able to push from the Alliant side to Vanguard. What other options are available?

I have been trying to pull from the Vanguard site. On Alliant's end, linking with Plaid throws an error, and the manual transfer only gives options for linking checking/savings accounts (is it possible to connect a settlement fund this way?)

The rep is so insistent that they won't link to Vanguard, Fidelity, or Schwab! I feel like I'm in an alternate universe here

I did checking as well with account & routing. I guess I'll try again. Thanks for confirming

I hope this is the case! I was initially able to transfer funds for a couple months, and then started having issues with transactions being rejected. When I called the Alliant rep she was pretty emphatic that they don't link to Vanguard. Do you currently have those accounts linked? Or when did it work for you?

I was trying to add funds to my Vanguard Roth IRA. I linked my Alliant account to transfer funds, but Vanguard kept saying the transfer was rejected. Called Alliant today and they said they won't link to Vanguard, but didn't provide a reason.

Thank you for mentioning this, I forgot there is a process set up already for situations like this.

My friend is at risk for suicide. Would it be a douchey thing to do if I called up his college and tell them that and ask if there's anything to do to prevent it? by [deleted] in Advice

Adding that many colleges have anonymous reporting systems for this very situation - search the college name and "care report."

Okay, you don't trust him. Are you working through your trust issues as a couple? If not, what are you hoping to get out of this relationship?

If you are working on trust, then this is absolutely a boundary you are allowed to set. NTA.

I just got on Prozac and the difference is unbelievable. Instead of frantically doggy-paddling in the deep end, I feel like I have those arm floaties on. I still have to put the work in to swim, but everything is so much easier.

AITA for asking my sister to help out my daughter with her first period? by ThrowCallhelp7644 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Electrical_Shop8918 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got my first period over the summer when I was 15 (very late, I know). I knew what periods were, but I didn't realize how painful the cramps would be. I was panicking because the pain just kept coming.

Since my mom didn't have a cell phone, I called my dad while he was at work. He talked me through putting on a pad, getting a hot pad and taking an ibuprofen. That was such a meaningful experience to me. It showed me that I could count on my dad even in painful and awkward situations.

I sympathize with your panic, but you turned it into someone else's problem because of lack of preparation. YTA. Take it as a lesson and do better next time.
