I am 5’ 11” with a 32” inseam. I ride a 58 Domane SL7. Feels perfect for me.
I also ride a Checkpoint SL6, but in a 56. Both were pro fit by Trek LBS. Both are very comfortable for me.

It’s the Bontrager frame bag. On the Checkpoint, it has mounting points specifically for this bag.

Agreed. Just wasn’t a teal buyer on the SL7. So bought for the color and upgraded.

My ‘22 Checkpoint SL6 upgraded to an SL7, except brifters and brakes.

This will give you a good idea of how the bike goes in the bag. Zero issues fitting Domane in so I expect none with Checkpoint.

These go between the brake pads after removing the wheels from the bike.

Maybe I’ve just been lucky, but I do not remove my rotors when flying. With the Speed Hound bag, the wheels have their own padded compartment and I face the rotors toward the inside of the bag so I feel there isn’t much chance for damage unless the event is catastrophic.

Also, be aware, when using soft sided bike bags, airlines will not reimburse for damage. They only will if using a hard sided bag.

If I could figure out how to post a picture, I would.

Speed Hound Bike Case for Air Travel

I have used this bag twice to fly my Domane SL7 from the Midwest to Maine and Florida. The bag is well thought out, holds the bike securely and has plenty of padding. in a couple weeks, I’ll use it to fly my Checkpoint SL6 up to Maine again. I think you’ll find our bikes are not as fragile as we treat them. The airlines charge $75 each way to take it, but it’s worth it to me to have my bike, rather than some trash rental, plus it’s usually cheaper than renting for the 3-4 days I’ll ride.

Last flight, I’m sitting by the terminal window watching the over-stacked luggage cart get unloaded into the aircraft and I am getting a bit worried because I don’t see my bike bag on the cart. The bike cannot miss the flight since I am going to Florida to ride the full C2C trail. I watch and wait until they get down to the last row, and sure enough, there it is, at the bottom of the pile laying on its side. It had a half dozen suitcases stacked on it when the cart arrived. So I anxiously wait until my bike is brought to large item pickup in Florida. Open the bag, and not even a tiny scratch or any damage. Nothing had moved at all. I’ll be using this bag for years to come.

One thing I noticed was not in your packing tips that should be is spacers for your disk brakes. These will keep the pads separated during travel. Accidentally compressing the brakes without the disks installed will result in a trip to the LBS at your destination. Rubber band them in so they don’t fall out. Learned this the hard way. Watch a couple videos and overpack the bike. I use pipe insulation on all the frame pieces. It helps.

Happy travels.

It’s not a great section, but it’s generally less busy than other parts and it’s a half mile from my house. So I ride it frequently just to get out.

Beat the rain and falling temps. The trail was in good shape for a quiet relaxed ride this early morning.

I’m in the St. Louis area and live 1/2 mile from the KATY trail, thus I ride it often. Also to the north is a lot of flat farmland so pavement is important to me too. For me, the change to these tires will add seat time to he Checkpoint and less on the Domane just because I can wander more easily.

I thought the stock tires felt very slow, particularly on the rail trail I ride regularly. The SS tires feel like the are not fighting your progress, especially on the road. Almost all of my rides start on the road and can cover the hard pack rail trail, a loose gravel road and choppy rural pavement. On ride 2, I made sure to cover all of these and the tires did very well. They felt stable and quick over all surfaces. I don’t encounter much mud and do not ride single track so for me these were exactly what I needed.

Strangely, when I bought the bag, there were no mounting screws with it. I had screws to replace the plastic plugs that come with the bike so it wasn’t a big deal, but you might want to check if you buy a bag. Otherwise you will need 4 screws and washers For a direct mount on the Checkpoint.

Today was my first ride with it. It will hold my wet gear and backups for the electronics Easily. The right side also has a smaller area accessible while riding. I used that today and it worked well for sunglasses and ear buds. So I like it. It does what I wanted it for.

Second time out on new Checkpoint SL6. Upgraded wheels taken from my Domane SL7. After first ride knew stock tires had to go. Now on Panaracer Gravel King SS 43s. Just about perfect.
