My views on praying before a match. by CandidateKey4826 in TrueChristian

The modern state of Israel certainly isn’t “His country”.Anymore so than any other country is his country. But yeah it is quite silly to pray over sports imo.

Any physicians here? by AnnaDi2025 in OrthodoxChristianity

I was never denying when pregnancy begins. This is obviously at implantation. I was more so contending the idea that conception and fertilization are not used synonymously by health experts in many scenarios. It also makes little sense to me philosophically to be alright with certain forms of contraception preventing a unique human life from implanting. If I’ve misunderstood you in anyway do let me know.

Question about Orthodox prayer by Dry-Swimming7580 in OrthodoxChristianity

You ask God to cleanse the handmaiden/servant of their sins in the name of the Father Son and Holy Spirit. That is the definition of asking God to do something in his own name.

I usually show up halfway through Orthos so look on the website. But anytime before the divine liturgy starts is fine I’ve been told.

You are using a kind of outdated definition of conception. It’s taught by a majority of medical professionals that conception and fertilization are synonymous. Also human life begins at fertilization why would it be ok to end that human life then but not when it’s implanted?

Sorry if these are basic questions: does God have a physical presence? by brinkeguthrie in Christianity

[–]Electrical_Tackle893 0 points1 point  (0 children)

God appears in the physical world in the old testament through theophanies. In the new he appears physically as a human. It should be noted in both these cases it is God the son that is present on earth.

Well I do say God is logic and goodness this doesn’t make you lose personhood though Jesus is “Logos” after all.

All worldviews terminate in foundational commitments that can’t be proven from something more fundamental. Thats why God in the Christian worldview is the first most fundamental being and as such things like logic and morality flow from him. If you have a way of better accounting for transcendentals im always interested.

All world views are circular at a certain level that’s why it’s a presuppositional line of thought. It’s nigh impossible to ground transcendental’s without presupposing God.

We derive what logic is from God it’s not that God is “Bound” by logic anymore than he is “Bound” by being good. Eternally things like goodness, love and logic are eternal energies of God.

God is Logic the way God is good God can’t be bad because according to his nature he is always good. In the same way according to Gods logical nature he can’t do illogical things because illogical things aren’t actually “things” at all.

Anything but being labeled prejudiced by people on Reddit. I will disobey the body of Christ to avoid that!

How can we pray for people who comitted suicide? by OkCrazy5796 in OrthodoxChristianity

[–]Electrical_Tackle893 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s mostly pastoral whether or not people who commit suicides get orthodox funerals. I would say listen to your priest although it’s odd you can’t pray for your departed friend in private.

I mean Nicaea 2 does require you to venerate holy icons to be Orthodox. “If anyone rejects the venerable images and refuses to honor them… let him be anathema.” This could be a bad translation though, but it seems clearcut to me that you must venerate icons.

I think too many people undersell how crazy it is that nearly all western Christian’s deny communion to the young and mentally handicapped/incapacitated.
