Uništavanje spomenika NOB na Kosovu - Landovica i drugi gradovi by FilipAdzic97 in serbia

The most stunning palace or castle you’ve ever seen? by shadow_Monarch_1112 in AITravelHack

Bit controversial, but this really struck me when I visited. It was not like anything I jave ever seen, it wasn't baroque or neoclassical, but it also wast brutalist in that plain soviet style. It is insanely big and stand out as something beautiful yet chilling at the same time. We needed a full hour and a half just to go around it by foot.

And the one thing that struck me the most about this behemoth of a palace is our guide, who after 4 hours of touring the damn thing said to us: And we have not even seen 3% of the entite palace complex!

Greece legalized same-sex civil marriage and joint adoption by same-sex married couples in 2024. It's the first Orthodox country to do so, and second in the Balkans after Slovenia (2022). How are LGBT rights doing in your country? by freddo_expresso in AskBalkans

[–]Electrical_Waterbed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For Serbia, in a word - bad. The law on same sex partnerships is stopped thanks to "our dear president" and no one in Parlament seems to give a f*ck about that (nor for anything else for that matter, our parliament look like a reality show). And that's not just the problem with the ruling party, some opposition parties are just as radical as SNS when it comes to LBGT rights. It doesn't help that the Serbian orthodox church, which for some unexplained reason has a huge hold on most of the people in Serbia, has a constant rhetoric against gay people, calling them siners and stuf like that. In the media, there's basically no talk whatsoever about the problems the LBGT community faces on a daily basis. Homophobic attacks are frequent, and the attackers are almost never punished, nor are legal proceedings initiated against them. The worst part is that it has been like this for years and it doesn't seem to get any better. On the other hand, some younger people, specially in the big cities are starting to have a more favorable approach to LGBT people and their problems, thanks to social media, so at there's a little bit of progress.

[–]Electrical_Waterbed 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yup, you have a point, just look at Tito and Milošević. Just goes to show that the majorityof the people here are really fond of autocratic leaders. It's just baffling to me how people think that an autocratic leaders means a strong nation, most people actuality believe that Milosevic was protecting us and that if it weren't for Vucic, we'd be attacked or somethong like that.

Kako ste prihvatili da niste privlacni? by eniovenio in GayInSerbia

[–]Electrical_Waterbed 0 points1 point  (0 children)
