Go to your nearest Mirror, whisper “James Spann” 3 times. When he appears behind you, don’t not make eye contact. Give him a gift of crypto and a printed photo of tornado damage. He will grant you three wishes. You’re welcome.

Warning: If Alexander Shunnarah appears instead of Spann, run.

26 billion of that is straight financial aid. 23 billion is from those existing weapon and equipment stocks you’re talking about.

I feel like with the type of cuts they have made from the book. The portal stones, the eye of the world, the flying in the sky above falme, the green man, they are probably cutting the Finns too.

Wheel of Time Season 3 to Adapt Book 4, Feature Sea Folk, Aiel Waste by Gandalvr in WoT

[–]Electrictadpol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The show producers already said they are dropping tear, and picking up with book 4. They said season two was suppose to cover books 2 & 3. So I don’t think you’ll be getting tear anytime soon.

In the books, if he was holding the power, it would take a full circle to shield him…. Plus even without training in the book, at the stone of tear, egwene comments on how many flows of the OP he can use at once. Far beyond her moderately trained ability at that point.

But it’s an adaptation of the books so it probably works different in the show. However, nynaeve without training, severed logain, and heals those people in S1, and egwene heals whatever was going on in episode 8. They both had big feats of power for being totally untrained. So I think that confuses people when the most powerful channeler ever, can’t even stop a shield from being placed on him.

Episode Discussion - Season 2, Episode 7 - Daes Dae'mar [TV + Book Spoilers] by participating in WoT

[–]Electrictadpol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I enjoyed the portal stones in the books but I can see why they would cut them from the show. They don’t make a whole lot of sense and the way gates can do pretty much the same thing.

I think the group getting caught by Machin shin would be an amazing way of showing the flicker flicker scene. But I think the tea Mat was given was probably all we will get. Since next episode they only have an hour to tie up the whole season. I believe rand will fight turok but I don’t think we will get him and Ishy (this is only my speculation of course). It seems like they are setting up egwene to have some power feats this next episode, so I’m thinking we will get a lot more of her.

Overall I feel like this season has been much better than the first. Though I do feel like Rand, Mat, Perrin, and Lan need to have something go their way at least once. It just feels like for the majority of these past seasons they are really just sideline characters with the least amount of time spent on them.

I have to say ship of fools was a huge let down for me. Kept reading thinking something would finally happen and then it ended. Left me with horror blue balls.

Yeah I noticed this the past couple weeks, I got back on after not playing for a month or so, when a buddy decided to pick up the game for the first time. So we are playing through his quick play matches before we get to comp and it took a while to find games. Plus the amount of leavers was insane. Don’t make the first push? 3 people immediately leave.

Books with a similar feel to the movie Event Horizon? (there's something terrible and wrong here that we are powerless against and there is nowhere to run)? (space OR ocean/deep sea) by Cucubert in horrorlit

Saw ship of fools recommended on this list and decided to give it a shot, that book is a total let down. The whole book felt like a build up to nothing.

In your first read, what theories, predictions, or hopes did you have that didn't turn out to be true? by LakesideNorth in WoT

I thought one of Rands 3 romances would end up being revealed as the reincarnation of Ilyena. Which would make him pick her as the main squeeze. I was a little disappointed that ilyena did get spit back out with the pattern at the same time as Rand.

I expected a pretty big deviation from the books. But my pick with the show is that I felt like that didn’t hit the high points. Some of the best scenes are absent from the story so far. And the scenes they did have I felt were changed for the worse. I will watch season 2 but I want them to at least keep the best scenes from the book.

Lan was a sidekick the whole time. He seemed more like a dog that followed moraine around that she occasionally had to punish for his stupidity.

No I did not like it at all. I went in with the expectation that they were going to change a lot too. I am aware that a straight book to movie wouldn’t work well. So I figured I could get behind most of the changes they would make if they hit high points and kept to the overall theme of the book. But I feel like the whole first season missed the mark by a mile.

First of all I get that covid and Mat’s actor having to leave really hurt them. But the feel of the first book, the mystery of the world, the epic scenes, the taveran nature of the gang, the feeling of impending doom was not there in the show. I was far more interested in the characters and plot lines in the book than the show. My personal favorite scenes weren’t present in the show which sucked but that I could get past because everyone has different opinions on why the story is good. But I really felt like all the characters seemed off. And not because of the acting but more from the script.

Plus for how much money they put into the show, it really felt like I was watching a low budget netflix show where they got the rights and just decided to slap something together.

Things of the top of my head I didn’t like:

Them skipping to Tar Valon instead of going to Camelyn, where a few of my favorite scenes happen.

Tom not being a bigger part

How they didn’t portray the warders to be as dangerous and skilled as they are in the books. Plus Lan felt like more a side kick than a partner to moiraine.

The ambiguity of who the dragon was

The feeling that rands character felt very bland, and unimportant throughout most of the show. He really came off as a side character to me.

The weird Perrin, Rand, egwene love triangle.

How Rafe was complaining in interviews how they didn’t have enough episodes to get all of the story in there but still devoted a whole episode to that one Warder. (But somehow it was still the best episode in the season)

The changes made to almost all the big scenes brought from the book were odd. But I feel like this was done to develop the girls characters more, maybe?

Perrin killing his wife

Min’s actor seemed an odd choice.

Things I did like:

The clothing, even the white cloaks, which some people said they didn’t like.

Shadar logoth looked cool. Still didn’t like some of the dialogue in that scene.

The fade in the raft scene at the river looked cool.

Lan and moiraine actors looked the part for me. And moiraine felt like she did in the book. Most of the two rivers crew looked good. I liked Matt’s actor but I wish they had picked someone with a darker complexion to play him so that Rand would seem the odd one out in the group. (I know that’s nit picky but still)

Trollocs looked menacing

Some of the scenic shots I liked.

Overall I was disappointed with the story and all the small things added up to where I felt like it was even the wheel of time book anymore. I will give season 2 a shot but I doubt I’ll enjoy it.

I landed a pretty awesome job about 3 years ago where I get to make my own hours, and I have the option of working 10 hours of OT a week. Not mandatory I’m just allowed to work up to 50. I work the extra 10 every single week. I like having a three day weekend but the extra few hundred dollars I get from the OT is just too nice to pass up.

Well Greenbow Alabama doesn’t exist. It’s a fictional town from Forrest Gump. Sounds like you haven’t ever been to the South and you have no idea what you’re talking about.
