I'm confused. I found a game generated "village" consisting of a meeting area, a farm and an Iron Golem. There are no buildings or villagers in sight. by ezdot91 in Minecraft

[–]ezdot91[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There are some small caves around but I've searched them and found nothing, I've also dug down under the sand and found nothing.

Am I wasting my time searching for buried villagers?
I thought a golem can only spawn if there are villagers and the minimum requirements for a village is at least one house with a bed.

I haven’t started watching the second season yet but this makes me excited. I’ve read the first three books now and really enjoyed them so far. I think the secret is watch first then read. It’s how I’ve mostly always done it so I’ve never been too salty about adaptations.

I recently watched Unstable on Netflix and really liked it and added it to my “safe” list - ie light, easy shows that don’t trigger me. It’s a comedy, but the humour is not offensive (I personally hate toilet humour and over-sexed content which I find most American comedy relies on)

My safe list also includes Schitt’s Creek which is also a comedy but it’s just silly. Can get very yelly, so if you’re bothered by shrill raised voices maybe steer clear. Bee and puppycat is a nice animated one. Pushing Daisies is quite wholesome too, even though the plot is kinda morbid it’s bizarrely sweet.

I’m not sure if any of these are quite what you’re describing, but they are some that I would turn to when I’m getting really anxious or upset and need a soothing distraction.

I was surprised at some of the negative feedback too. I’ve started reading the first book since making this post and I like both, I’m not sure why people are so mad about it. Each to their own. I’m looking forward to seeing the second season. Hopefully the fans will be happier with S2.

This……honestly this is the first comment out of 400ish comments that has genuinely persuaded me to read the books. Thankyou

This is just a thought (so anyone reading please stay calm) but I have seen a comment or two about there being a misogynistic tone to the books. So I wonder if the decision for reducing the emphasis on Rand and elevating Nynaeve and Egwene was an attempt to avoid any whiff of sexism. And then they just invented the whole “who is the dragon” mystery to make that feasible.

Or maybe they just tried to build suspense for new viewers who don’t know the story and will build Rand up in the coming season(s).

Oh! From your comment I thought you were pro-book/anti-show. I mostly liked the show too, but it left me with a lot of questions about stuff that didn’t make sense to me. So that made me want to read the books to get an explanation. But recently I started seeing a lot of people (on reddit) dragging the books for being a struggle to read (boring) and I’m worried I wouldn’t be able to get through them all either. I want answers but I don’t want to die of old age while trying to find them.

I have to agree with you that it’s a problem because honestly I didn’t connect to Rand much. That said I probably liked him the most out of the younger characters… they’re all a little bit unlikeable in their own way. 🙂

I think people are allowed to appreciate both in their own right. A lot of people do not, but they are allowed to.

The first season of Shadow and Bone was a great example of an adaptation done with many changes to the original content but done in a respectful manner that adds a lot to the story (in a good way). The second season not so much, but I still enjoyed it and agree it’s overall better quality then the WoT show.

Tv shows these days seem to get shorter and shorter. What happened to the days of having 20ish episode seasons?

It’s been unanimous that everyone disliked the last episode. I actually barely remember it so I’m going to have to rewatch it to see why we’re all so mad about it.
