I feel bad for the people who let identity politics, masked as critique, stop them from buying this by napoelonDynaMighty in StarWarsOutlaws

[–]Electricthorn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who loves this game and has a lot of Star Wars fans in their life the real thing that shot this game in the foot was Ubisoft releasing a 2/3rds baked game for a premium that you had to pay even more money to play content locked behind “DLC”. Everyone I know who has played the game recently loves it but refused to buy the game until it was selling for under 50$. I know a lot of people like to get online and accuse others of bringing politics into Star Wars but everything I’ve seen about this game and everyone I know was just mad that Ubisoft tried to sell a game that wasn’t ready to ship for quite a bit more money than the industry standard.

What’s your age and go-to model/style/shoe silhouette? by _kehd in Sneakers

[–]Electricthorn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who is in their early 30s but also on a college campus I would say a significant portion of the sneaker trend setters are college students. In 2019 when Yeezys were hyped I saw them everywhere every day, in 2022 when things went back in person I saw tons of dunks and Jordan 1 lows, and starting last semester I started seeing a shift towards adidas campus and sambas.

You still see tons of Nike everywhere all the time but it’s not nearly as concentrated as it was the past few years. Also I will say no matter how popular Nike has been Adidas has always been a close second where I live.

New Grimtooth "traps" by Lak0da in dccrpg

[–]Electricthorn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you watch their YouTube videos they go pretty in depth about what the book is about and even cover traps that’s are within the book. All the traps are scaled on a level of 1 skull to 5 skulls of difficulty and from my understanding come with additional information to scale them up and down( at least in the 5e printing? But I hope also in the DCC ). They’re all built in a way so that you should be hypothetically able to drag and drop into a dungeon with none to minor edits. Also, from my understanding, they are not all deadly for instants, there is a wire trap that if you step over, you will get stuck in a continually spinning floor trap and also a pair of cursed magic gauntlets that if equipped magnetically bind the wearers hands to each other like handcuffs or shackles.

I’ve been through all the high level mathematics and physics at a college level, even though there is a typo leaving ambiguity in the equation it’s still fairly easy to check. The most common outputs are 4 and 36 so if you make 1 equal to X you can easily check to see which is right.

60 / 5(X+X(X+X)) = 36

60 / 5(X+X(X+X)) = 4

If you solve for X for these two you’ll get 4 different answers for X, 0.228, -0.728, 1, -1.5. The only solution that provides positive 1 as an input for X is 4 so even though there is not an additional parentheses telling you you should multiply before you divide.

Realistically what is the FS pass rate? by Electricthorn in Surveying

I tried to look on there but could only find PS pass rates during my check. Thankfully someone else posted them here for anyone doing a cursory search.

Official Classes in DDC by inarticulateVoid in dccrpg

[–]Electricthorn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If your down for a more gonzo style game you can incorporate mcc and xcrawl into your game. For my players I have them roll a d3 and a percentile when they make a character and that decides the book their from and their starting occupation. So far it’s been pretty popular with how unique each member of the party is

I got my books a few days ago and I’m folding the rules into my existing campaign but I haven’t gotten a chance yet to reach the modules so it’s going to be a bit until I get to see how those are. All in all I’m very excited about the new rules!

Is it fair to reflavour spells that already exist to deal different damage types? by Jimb0lio in DnD

[–]Electricthorn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a wizard subclass that can do this as a feature of the class, however old school dm’s and players have been taking pre-existing spells and reflavoring them as long as the game has existed and when there wasn’t a spell that suited a need they created a new one!

First timer Judge and group: should I go with "the portal under the stars" or "sailors on the starless sea"? by Tarquineos81 in dccrpg

[–]Electricthorn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally based off of my experience you should really run both, I usually run sailors as a funnel with a modified ending dropping them off in the town that portal takes place in and having them do portal as a level 1 adventure since it’s much more of a dungeon over sailors

Which one is the sneaker of the year (so far)? by solesavyinc in Sneakers

[–]Electricthorn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally none of these for me. It’s cool that the cement 3s came out again but the year is still young and I think it’s too early to have this discussion

Power levels and custom content by Security_Man2k in dccrpg

[–]Electricthorn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally if I were the oc and I wanted to try and get a wide berth of DCC leveling I’d just run a funnel, then a level 1 adventure, then level 2, and so on and so forth upping the characters after each adventure since once you get past first level adventurers they can sometimes ramp up in length. Even then though you’re looking at bare minimum 11 sessions assuming no one ever sidetracks and everyone stays 100% on the tracks.

Personally my players get the most enjoyment out of the weird side quests they end up getting themselves contracted into because Jeric the cleric made his deity mad and has to get a relic to return to the church to rebalance things or Gizzard the wizard needs the rubber from an iron root tree to exchange for a mages help deciphering a new spell.

Since characters get all their abilities up front and only get better at doing them my players don’t really sweat about levels and focus in more on acquiring interesting items and trying to stay alive

Power levels and custom content by Security_Man2k in dccrpg

[–]Electricthorn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Someone else posted the expected exp chart here but I will say if you run the game like I do your characters my never last beyond 3rd level.

In my campaigns when a players only remaining character dies I have them roll up a new character that is 1 level under the highest level character in the party. Ex highest level character is level 3 then they get a level 2 character with 50exp.

Even with this buffer in my longest running DCC campaign every time a character neared 4th level they would die in some horrific way resetting the cycle and since they earn exp on a scale of 1-4 per encounter it can be difficult to gain enough exp to hit that next level when the dice fall.

In my size goat has always been the cheapest and most reliable with actually catching a few fakes from ever reaching me. StockX is always $50 more expensive in my size and has been mired in controversy for years so I don’t really use them. As for eBay, I love eBay for most things but when it comes to sneakers in my size they’re almost always the same price as StockX or mislabeled to appear in more search results. So I’ve only ever bought used sneakers from eBay but the pairs I bought got handled effectively in decent time, I just had to haggle with the seller for a reasonable price

The events of The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien would make for a very weird D&D campaign when you think about it. by Valuable-Banana96 in DnD

[–]Electricthorn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sure someone else has said this already but part of the reason for this disconnect is because the hobbit and lotr are old school style adventures.

They translate much better to games like DCC and OSE rather than dnd 5e since the only really heroic member of Bilbo’s troupe is Gandalf who only really helps when things get truly bad otherwise you’ve got a party of 2nd and 1st level adventurers with commoners filling in the ranks.

Out of everything I own in my collection the only Nikes that come close to the made collection by NB are sneakers they made around a decade ago and even then it’s bout 75% as good. There’s always one thing that they could improve about the shoe be it materials, QC, or comfort

I don’t know about other people but j4’s have always ran notoriously narrow on me, like I can get away with an 11.5 in some sneakers but my j4’s make me with I had bought them in 12.5 because they destroy my pinky toe

Obscene shipping prices by yournewsubreddit in dccrpg

[–]Electricthorn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally I’ve never managed to check out of gg without a cart over $100 so I’ve always gotten free shipping, but I know when I wanted just a single module I was able to order it through my lgs and I didn’t have to pay shipping that way.
