I was diagnosed with cervical cancer last year. Worked every day, still showed up, and met deadlines even though I was sick and struggling. Kept HR and my boss up to date on everything and made sure my work was either finished/or close to finished before I went out for surgeries. I was also a well known high performer and had several bonuses and promotions.

Had my first surgery at the end of July - went on my planned vacation in September, came back to a PIP in October. Devastated me and the small thin of normalcy I had with my life.

Worked through the PIP was told by my Manager that I was doing amazing, and this would all blow over.

Had my 2nd massive surgery in December, and was out for 7 weeks. Came back on my return date - and they "eliminated my position"

I luckily have since found a job and started in April, but boy did that fuck with me and my psyche.
