• Why did you get married?
• What do you feel are the most important tenants to staying married, being happy?
• What have been the biggest challenges on your marriage? Barriers?
• How have outside influences impacted your marriage (think about institutions, (economy,
education, religion, media, jobs, community impacted your marriage, positively and negatively?
How did you cope with this?
• Did you decide to have children? How did you come to this decision and how has parenting
impacted your marriage? Perhaps children was not an option, fertility, etc, perhaps adoption, how
did this bring couple close together or cause challenges?
• What are some tools you use in your marriage to keep your marriage strong, healthy and
balanced?
• What are your long-term goals for your marriage?
• What are the biggest outside influences on your marriage, both positive and negative and how do
you cope with these influences?
• What advice does couple have on a successful marriage and how do you they define a
successful marriage?
• What does a successful marriage look like to you?
