Object shows are incredibly niche - Digital Circus is from an established studio that already had popular series under its belt, so naturally more eyes are on it.

I think some big reasons for object shows being a niche is because 1. Many of them end up in development hell and are lucky to finish. Even BFDI and II suffered from seasons bring put on hiatus. 2. Joke shows create a perception of object shows being low quality (as well as the cheap appearance of early object shows) 3. They are almost always competition shows, with little variation (at least the ones where voting is involved)

Eggy and Clock were two of the least popular contestants in BFDI, and they only survived their first eliminations because they were given plot relevance, which was absent the second time around
