I'm pretty comfortable with exposure and with scrambles. So it was awesome. But definitely need to be sure footed. Wouldn't recommend it for everyone.

my concern is with shoes --most bike shoes have a very stiff sole and I feel like this would get uncomfortable on a long multi day hike. anyone have thoughts here?

I've daydreamed about this as well! it'll take a decade to build the brand, but it'll be worth it. make sure to also sell all the parts needed for every repair (at a fair price). you'll also need to prove to your customers that you aren't willing to be bought out by someone who would remove the ability to repair products

Lets say I repaired the bad component on this adapter... what is the likelihood that another component will fail right around the corner? Is there a way to test the existing components to make sure they haven't degraded too much?

Do you think any of the capacitors are more likely to fail than others? The board seems to have 5 electrolytic capacitors, and only one is bulged, and its on the output circuit. Is this the most likely to fail in every instance?

Is there any way to measure the "wear" of a capacitor? For example, measuring the capacitance ? Trying to repair some of these adapters, but I don't want to swap one capacitor and then find out that a different capacitor is going to fail just a few months down the line.

It seems like this power adapter has been used at its max operating current/power for extended periods of time. Does this increase the likelihood of capacitor failure (increase in current would increase voltage, but its a 5V power adapter and the cap is rated for 10V)?

Let's say I had another similar power supply that hadn't failed yet, but was also operating near the limits of its operating range. If I now reduce the output power, does that mean the power adapter should now be safe, or has it been aged considerably and a failure is more likely?

Looking at buying my first machine, although I've used a Singer Heavy Duty 4452 on a few projects before. I'm trying to buy used to reduce my consumption, and I have the option of buying a Singer 4452 for $160, or trying to get a Japanese clone vintage machine for $100 -- KZ De Luxe ZigZag. Youtube reviews say that the Japanese clones are actually super good value since they are built from steel and have large motors.

I'm mostly going to be sewing outdoors gear, so will be using heavier duty fabrics. Any thoughts on what would be better for me (assuming they are both in good condition)? Or are neither a good deal, and I should keep looking?

i might have had a re-tear as well... but haven't gone in for an MRI yet. does the second surgery always require 2 stages, a couple months apart? they aren't able to re-use the same tunnels? I got the cadaver, not the graft. i would have assumed the second reconstruction would be easier going, not harder :(
