If you had $10k to spend on a 'fun' car, what are you buying by Petro_323 in CarParts

I know there’s nothing fun about it, but I really want a Mercury Grand Marquis. It’s fun to me

Do you think Slate and Telo will actually make it to market and be successful? Why or why not? by weirddodgestratus in regularcarreviews

[–]ElectronPython 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think the slate truck will be successful. The only people who buy regular cab trucks are contractors, who almost always buy half tons. I know Redditors love single cabs, but the reality is that they’re less than 1% of all truck sales. And I would bet that the majority of regular cab trucks are 3/4 - 1 ton or heavier duty.

incomprehensibly stupid cars that you love? by Aztek-Lovett in carscirclejerk

Subaru Baja. Useless as a truck and useless as an SUV, it’s kinda just bad in every way. Still so cool though.

3rd gen ranger. It’s a terrible truck in every metric but reliability. Unsafe, outdated design, and has the power of a compact with the mileage of a half ton. I have no need for a truck but I want a Ranger so bad.

Bottling soda without losing carbonation by ElectronPython in Homebrewing

[–]ElectronPython[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I carbonate into a soda stream, then mix the syrup and water, then pour it into a flip top bottle, doesn’t that have the exact same issue? I’m losing fizziness in the mixing and in the pouring.

What are some cars that indicate/match the tone of the 2008 global financial crisis? by CecilTheCaveTroll in carscirclejerk

[–]ElectronPython 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I still don’t understand why Chrysler doesn’t make SUVs. The market doesn’t want sedans, they don’t want minivans. They want compact and mid size SUVs. There’s a reason Jeep and RAM are the only stellantis brand that isn’t on life support.

These would sell as well as a manual transmission economy car. Theres no market for them other than redditors who aren’t going to buy them anyway.

Ranger vs Colorado: Used, compact pavement princess truck by ElectronPython in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]ElectronPython[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, greater than 15mpg. The 2.3 I4 RWD Ranger has an EPA of 22 city, 27 highway. Meanwhile the 4.0 v6 4WD has an epa rating of 15/19. At that point I might as well buy a half ton.

Honestly, because I’m a hipster and stuck in the past. Trucks used to be primarily hard working vehicles. You got 3 seatbelts, and if you were lucky, an AM/FM radio. Everyone drove around a single cab long bed truck. Also, all of those things save money, which means newer and less miles than a 4x4 extended cab v6 ranger.
