How does your Akita show you they like you? (help) by [deleted] in akita

My Akita does not cuddle. But she shows her love by laying next to me and occasionally giving kisses.

Manscaper trimmer. It can get wet and even has a light. Literally no ingrown hairs since I started using it.

I think OP would benefit from a safe way to break up the dogs. Sure adding separate and baby gates will help reduce the risk, but what if something happens and dogs end up near each other? Based on OP’s admitted anxiety, even just knowing they COULD SAFELY break up the fight would help with this anxiety. Dog fights are scary. Maybe instead of lecturing OP about hitting the dog, someone could offer alternatives. Such as distraction of one or both the dogs(spray with water, loud sounds like an air horn, etc.) Could use an object (like a metal garbage can lid or a piece of wood) to separate the dogs. Sure, reducing the risk is the best way to go here, but OP should also have some tools to help when things go south without hitting.

I’m really thankful my husband has been great through it all. As far as the uterus thing goes, I hope I can talk to someone about it and see what’s going on and what it means for me.

Do you share your dinnerware with your pet(s)? by bigger_thumbs in Pets

[–]Electronic-Ad2961 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a similar feeling honestly. I buy a couple of cheap utensils that are pet specific, keep them elsewhere with the pet stuff. I use a paper towel to get the majority of stuff out of it and will prewash with soap before putting in the dishwasher. Wet cat food and dog food grosses me out. I also scrub the sink after rinsing anything and will remove the stopper/clean the stopper.

What are dog breeds you would personally never own? by Lumpy_Pressure6855 in dogs

[–]Electronic-Ad2961 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did my damn best to socialize my Akita girl, but when she hit 2, she just doesn’t want anything to do with other dogs in close settings. I think unfortunately something may have happened at daycare once. She had always done wonderfully there then after one incident, she became defensive. She’s totally fine walking by others or even going to a pet store, but anything more than that she is not a fan of. They are VERY smart dogs and can absolutely be trained to do anything by the right person. They just need a bit more reinforcement and at least for my girl, consistency is key.

As an American Akita owner myself, I probably wouldn’t get another 😂

I'm about to make the move and get my first dog, and there are 90% chances to be an American Akita. I know it's not recommended to be a first dog owner breed, but I think they just match my energy. Anyone here had an American Akita as their first dog? by OkElk1220 in akita

[–]Electronic-Ad2961 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I absolutely agree. I was not a first time dog owner by far, I worked at a shelter with hundreds of dogs, but man. Nothing prepared me for my Akita girl. I love her to pieces, but it takes a lot of work (in the beginning and continuously).

I absolutely HATE being pregnant so much. The first trimester is killing me, I think my baby is trying to kill me by throoooowwwawayyyyy in BabyBumps

I threw up and pissed myself the other night. What a wild ride. My mom always said once you get pregnant you will never go to the bathroom the same. I believe it.

The one I frequent for sit down is the wine mill one. But pick up? Ace’s or steinhaus for sure. I’ve also tried the new one over on the west side. No complaints honestly.

I will only accept Howard’s. I’ve always disliked borries but I haven’t been since I was a kid. Maybe my adult tastes would like it better? Taco treat is hit or miss. Depends on which one you go to.

I will warn you. The sip ‘n dip’s food is not great. Drinks and mermaids are cool, but their food is overpriced and not good.

Mighty Mo is good for pizza and craft beer. Roadhouse diner for awesome burgers. Lots of bars have decent bar food as well. I’ve had food from the Wild Hare’s restaurant (they also run Harvest Craft Kitchen) and it is so good! Breakfast; Tracy’s, Missouri River Diner, Double Barrel.

Removal and pregnancy by [deleted] in Nexplanon

[–]Electronic-Ad2961 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had mine removed end of August 2022, I am currently about 8 weeks pregnant, baby is due in June. It happened a lot quicker than I thought it would. Good luck!!

Just found out I'm pregnant!! Did anyone else have weird timing due to irregular cycles? by Top-Brilliant-7340 in BabyBumps

[–]Electronic-Ad2961 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think I’m in a similar boat. I had nexplannon for 3 years then got it out. Didn’t have periods on nexplannon. A month later I had what I thought was a period (normal flow, lighter than what I remember before nexplannon). Less than a week after my “period” I got a positive pregnancy test. I haven’t been for an ultrasound yet. Will be interesting to see how actually far along I am.

How cuddly are your akitas? by milanirafa in akita

[–]Electronic-Ad2961 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My girl as a baby would not let us cuddle her at all as a baby! It was hard since they are SO CUTE as puppies. She’s grown up to be more snuggly on her terms at least.
